Tamir Rice's mother says police detained her 14-year-old daughter after Tamir Rice shooting

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The mother of Tamir Rice said Monday that police officers tackled and handcuffed her 14-year-old daughter shortly after her 12-year-old son was fatally shot by a Cleveland police officer.

Samaria Rice said that officers also threatened to put her in the back of a police car if she didn't calm down in the minutes after police officer Tim Loehmann shot her son.

Cleveland of Division of Police has not responded to requests seeking to confirm the details released Monday morning as Samaria Rice appeared on national television and at an 11 a.m. press conference at the Olivet Institutional Baptist Church in Cleveland.

Here are other takeaways from the press conference:

They have to make sure they completely break the family of the murder victim as well. By questioning them, not allowing grief, and by not indicting.

The blame the victim - did he attend school regularly? - and blame the family comments are sickening.

that she was handcuffed and put in the backseat of the patrol car with her dying brother.
Trying to find a link.

@ShaunKing:
The Cleveland Police also didn't show the entire video of what happened after they shot Tamir b/c it shows them ignoring him for 4 minutes

@ShaunKing:
The Cleveland Police didn't release the full video of what happened after Tamir was killed because it shows them handcuffing his sister.

@ShaunKing:
After police shot Tamir, they handcuffed his 14 y/o sister and put her in the back of the same police car next to him while he's there dying

Cop shoots Tamir Rice , stand around and ignore him , making no attempt to stabilize him or provide first aid, while they get the story straight .

Cop shoots Michael Brown , body lies in street for 4 and 1/2 hours waiting for the coroner to arrive . Wilson and his supervisor stand there and get the story straight as a crowd gathers .

cop shoots Akai Gurley when his gun goes off "by accident" in the stairwell of a NYC housing project . Victim bleeds to death while the shooter sends text to his union rep . . . BEFORE . . . calling for an ambulance.

Cops choke hold Eric Garner . stand around getting story straight while Garner , in obvious distress , lays there fighting for his life - - no attempt to provide CPR or any other first aid . The best part ? - - - the police blame the EMS for Garners death and 4 of them are suspended without pay .

This indicates a trend where the police seem like they dont even consider these people to be humans . How else could you explain their obvious lack of empathy for someone who is dying right in front of them while making absolutely no attempt to provide comfort or preserve life .
Sickening . . . .

of saddened people because of executions of unarmed black males by white police officers. Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, John Crawford, Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, all unarmed.....yeah, yeah I know the toy looked real. A little more communication by police dispatcher would have rectified that situation. Maybe, just maybe those 'police officers' would have asked Tamir if it was a toy. Big maybe, but just a possibility. Who was the caller, who was the dispatcher. Why hasn't the lack of communication become a contributing issue, when it was an omission of important information?. All these sad, sad faces. This is becoming............... The daughter was put in the same car as the dying boy??? They really didn't care. She's scarred for life and they didn't even care. Cruel and vicious. No, it wasn't murder ......and torture......

karma will take care of that.
but, what do we do, now? first, we cry. then we get mad. and i hope we get mad enough & channel the energy into making sure there is accountability and humanity is restored.

there are no word for the disgust and grief. i am so, so sorry for tamir and his sister and parents and family and community.

1. the oversight of the oversight of the oversight committees (sic ) seem to all be incompetant y lambiando uno/a al otro. are there local grassroots community members serving on any of these "oversight" committees?

2. has this pr fraud for "medals of valor" been brought to the attention of kamala harris's office? - i suggest a family or community member of mr. martinez contact them via phone & letter (including a copy of the story)

3. also, direct calls to the offices of the state senator, state congressperson, and u.s. representative's offices. personal calls along with mailed letters. the info will most likely be passed on to an aide who will research the story and advise the representative.

if there is no response from either of the offices in 2 weeks time, follow up. again, hopefully, there is a family or community member who passionate about supporting the injustice to mr. martinez and the overall miscarriage of awarding "medals of valor" to these cops.

in addition, there may be a criminal justice student or law student or professor who can also present this story to students and invite them to take it on as their project/thesis.

now is the time forlocal community grassroots leaders to take on these issues to advocate for their communities.

my best to mr. martinez & you, his attorney.
