IMHO this is a moral divide, not a political one.

How many times has the NYT been a tool of the CIA? Just asking.

(45,251 posts)I am thrilled that the CIA is on the defensive at long, long last.
What kind of torture report do you suppose will the next session of Congress release?

why "modern" MSM "News" ought to be dismissed and totally ignored.
If ratings for all corporate news hits the bottom..the real bottom-not only would folks be more informed, but they (corp msm) will have wasted a mega huge inve$tment.
Instead of actually debating real issues based upon facts--we argue about the "correctness" of the conversation, imo.

(18,186 posts)is basically saying: "I don't give a damn if our enemies do this same shit to US military captives."
Because if we get away with anally raping and hideously torturing our POWs, our enemies will have no problem paying our people back in kind.
Now, that's a way to spread Democracy all over the globe: "Everyone follow the Great US of A! Ready your implements of torture."
THANKS, CIA, for being a bunch of sociopathic anarchist slime. That's using all your fancy educations and all of the resources available to you to make the world a better place. Way to use your privilege and security clearances and cloaks of secrecy!
Thanks, US media, for enabling the torture of your fellow human beings.

(21,836 posts)and they are almost totally dependent on a media with one specific agenda... That agenda is to advance a two class system of the aristocracy and a repressed working class. There are no Walter Winchells, or Edward R Murrows, or even David Brinkleys anymore.
Instead, we have Fox News, NPR, the M$M, right wing radio. On the "most balanced" side of the matter, we have one part time cable channel, MSNBC,which really serves it's corporate masters because it does fill a niche and brings in some advertising money.
The move to fascism (corporate controlled government) is well on it's way in this country. The aristocratic neocons knew this a long time ago and have played it to the hilt. To be brutally honest, it is probably already too late to change the course of this snowballing effect before we are just brutally beaten into submission but the longer we wait, the more difficult it will be.
Sorry to be so negative, but it's time to grab the bull by the tail and face the situation in this country. The best thing we have going for us right now is our "part time progressive" President who is running out of time as well.
