I'm with her

LTTE New York Times about Vatican crackdown on US nuns.

"How can there ever be too much focus on poverty and economic injustice? And how can the Vatican justly rebuke women busy selflessly carrying out Christís work caring for the least of our brethren for being silent on abortion and homosexuality, while for decades bishops were silent about grave sins against the innocent in their care?"

1. Yet another Inquisition. . .

Will I finally be able to witness an auto-da-fe? I went to a Catholic university, and the sisters there were fierce and untiring. I am the better for knowing them.

9. Literally true

The Vatican organization that rebuked the American nuns is the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (AKA the inquisition).

3. If I am not mistaken the Nuns are the ones following Christ

How much time did he spend helping and speaking out for the poor versus abortion and homosexuality?

4. Agree, the Nuns are dong Christ's work and following the Word

the RCC hierarchy is putting itself above the Word and criticizing the nuns for literally following Christ's teachings.

5. I'm with her also.

Proudly. And every mom I know from Catholic school is, too. BELIEVE ME, we have NOT forgotten. Those bishops damn well better take care of their own sins and abominations before they start pointing the finger at us.

6. Now the Church has added nuns to their war on women

I think they've guaranteed their demise. It'll be nice to have real Christianity back again.

I'm not of any religion, but I do think Jesus and Buddha were right.

10. Um ... I don't think we'll get "real" Christianity back just by the demise of the Catholic Church.

(I also think the purported demise is a long way from happening, but that's a different discussion.)

I'm assuming by "real" Christianity you mean the one that focuses on the teachings of Jesus, to non-judgmentally care for the less-advantaged members of society with love and compassion. In that case there's a slew of non-Catholic fundamentalist sects that would have to go away, too.

I'm not holding my breath waiting on any part of that. Even though I agree with your last line. (Jesus, based on what I was taught as a kid. I'm not sure everyone's "Jesus" is the same guy.)

11. I meant the basic tenets of almost every religion out there

which are basically human tenets of decent behavior. One doesn't have to be religious to be decent nor is religion the cause of decency as far as I can tell.
