Once again, the Guardian gets to the root of the problem. All we heard for days was "shot carrying or waving a gun around in the store". The damage was done.
The BB gun was on sale at the store. The interrogation lasted 90 minutes *after the shooting* and it was known to be a homicide by cop. Rest assured this would have ended differently if a white man had been carrying the merchandise.
Just more of the rules you have to know to keep from getting shot by police in the USA.
Now there are right-wing groups demanding that schools teach proper behavior in front of police, including what language to use, etc.
Just another example of USA culture of authority growing wildly out of control.
Curd promptly asked Thomas whether she and Crawford had criminal records. Already tearful and breathless, Thomas explained that she may have had some traffic offences and had been arrested for petty theft as a juvenile.
The detective then became increasingly aggressive and banged on the table between them with his hand. Tell me where he got the gun from, Curd repeated. Thomas insisted Crawford had been carrying only a white plastic grocery bag when they arrived at Walmart to buy the ingredients to make smores at a family cook-out.

(26,001 posts)There's only one reason that cops carry out an "aggressive" -- just one step below "enhanced," eh? -- "interrogation."
Of course they want a "confession."
