At the risk of being attacked . . .

In my opinion it's past time for our MidEast policy to no longer be held hostage to Hitler.

Having said that, let me assure you I know about the Holocaust. I'm a retired Army officer with 28 years of service. Years ago my commander was an old infantry lieutenant colonel who still had a tattoo on his forearm from the days he and his family were in a concentration camp -- he was the only survivor from his family. I have visited two concentration camps in Europe. I've read the books, read the personal accounts, seen the photos.

Still, there comes a time when we must look forward, not backward. Every time one of our politicians suggests we make even a slight change in our "support for Israel," s/he is accused of forgetting the Holocaust and the friends of Israel start their onslaught.

Enough is enough.

Good for Warren, Sanders, and the others who did not sign the AIPAC propaganda sheet. Maybe we can do with our Israel-Palestine policy what Obama has just done with our Cuba policy: GET REAL.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
