But, But, But...My 'Bread n Butter' Is PROMOTING REPUBLICAN LIES

Let me recap exactly what Chucky said on Sunday’s MTP:

“We all sit there because we all know the first time we bark is the last time we do the show,” Chuck Todd said. “… All of a sudden, no one will come on your show.”

So, correct me if I’m wrong, but is Chucky saying that if he doesn’t allow his political guests to outright lie without calling them out, no one will come on his show?

Why would he care if lying republicans refuse to come on his show simply because he won’t allow them free reign to lie? If Democratic politicians are booked on MTP and stick to the truth and facts, republicans can either stay away without rebuking Democratic claims or statements or they can face the storm and come on the show with a new understanding that truth and facts rule.

Sounds like real journalism and a hard lift for Chucky.

5. So, basically Chuckles is saying...

that NBC's Meet The Press are knowingly allowing lies and distortions to be promoted by guests as truth and like a blackmailer's threat, won't "bark" at them to get to the bottom of truth for fear its "the last time we do the show and nobody will come on your show"?

What a sham!

11. Well, remember Cenk Uyger and what happened to his Young Turks show on MSNBC?

The network brass got complaints from Washington DC republi-CONS that they didn't like "the way they were treated" by the Young Turks and wouldn't come on the show anymore.

And MSNBC caved. And got rid of Cenk and friends. STUPID thing to do. That's like SONY caving to the North Koreans and just letting that be that. Their response should have been - "SO?" Or "Who the fuck cares?" Or "hey, no big deal. We've got LOTS of people we can book! Really don't need you guys all that badly."

So they think no republi-CONS on the air means no show? How 'bout all the Dems and progressive and liberals that would make room for on the air? How 'bout some more attention paid to the OTHER side (i.e. OURS)??? They wouldn't have been at a loss for guests. There are TONS of articulate Dems who've never had a chance at face time. And they'd probably have a LOT of relevant and provocative and attention-getting things to say.

12. Chuck, you do not have a show if it is full of lies. Your problem is that you want to have nothing

but Rs on your show. In order to make themselves look good they often tell lies. If you really want a show bring us truth. We do not want to hear the lies. If that means having a lot of people from the other party - so be it.

When a Dem is on telling the truth, his job is to provide the lies

The other side is allowed on TV to lie. Our side isn't even allowed on TV to tell the truth.

Seems fair.

The best and the worst always show up at the end of a run cycle. I think mainstream media has run its course and can no longer be considered true news outlets. For local news it will always be the same, but with less actual reporting and more punditry I expect the audience to shrink as more move to infoblogs.

We are democratizing our information/current events/news by taking it out of the hands of those that would do it harm for profit. Those holdovers that still watch the M$M will be left behind unless they watch the one or two out there that are still journalists.

When they got rid of Dan Rather, they were making a bold FUCK YOU statement toward those of us that watched the nightly news to learn something.

I said bye bye cable years ago and am much happier and healthier without the corporate news cycle trying to manipulate me.

I let Republicans lie on my show without being challenged
so that they will come back and lie on my show without being challenged

so that they will come back and lie on my show without being challenged

lather , rinse, repeat

apparently the same logic used by the prosecutor in Ferguson

16. Todd should be fired.

This is the reason that Meet the Press is losing ratings. Chuck Todd should be immediately fired and replaced by a real journalist. And if republicans don't want to show up and face tough questions, then let the audience know who was invited and why they were too cowardly to show up. And then watch your ratings soar.

18. The issue is not about access to Republicans.
Sun Dec 28, 2014, 11:43 PM
Dec 2014

It's about the access to the Republicans that attend the same cocktail parties he wants to. The Louie Gohmerts and Michelle Bachmans of the world would happily appear on his show every week to explain the finer points of illegitimate rape, FEMA camps, death panels, Mexicans with calves the size of cantaloupes, vaginal wanding, and rectal feeding. He could challenge them facts and they would return each week regardless.

Unfortunately this would make for uncomfortable situations around the appetizer plate at the palatial estates and exclusive clubs where he likes to rub elbows with the power elite. That is until the invitations dried up. He then would have to eat his meals and drink his liquor at road side diners and corner bars with the regular people he purportedly serves. Like reporters used to do.
