Here in the San Bernardino Mountains where I live we've had a solid 7" so far and the local weather people say it ain't lettin' up til tomorrow morning after sun-up. By that time we should have over a FOOT in Big Bear Valley since noon today.
It's looking like one of the three two-lane roads up to 7,000 feet where I live is already closed, and both others just MIGHT be by sunrise.
I FUCKING LOVE IT.

(149,620 posts)Sounds wonderful! The skiers and the folks who run the ski runs will be thrilled!
Down here at sea level, it's cold (40's to 50's) and rainy.
The mountains should look very pretty when the storm clears out...

(24,853 posts)It's wonderful to be here, hell if you live here and found yourself down the mountain this afternoon...
We have a Lady Friend who was on the way back from a Dr.'s appoint this afternoon. She started up from Redlands on the 330, and after a couple hours of delay, was turned back. She then started up the 38, got stuck in an HOURS LONG traffic jam, and guess what? Yep... she got turned back. Now she's in a hotel in Highland.
I'll post pics in the morning when the sun is shining on the snow!

(40,416 posts)And I miss Nadine, who would also have been all over this. She was so bullied here, she left. I still hope she will come back.
(Not to detract from your post.)

(40,416 posts)Never any snow there. The most perfect weather on the planet.
Nadine was always diligent -- a great DUer. And the fucking bullies ran her off.
My regards.

(24,853 posts)Gees I WISH I could get that much for the Tahoe! LOL.
It's as if she hardly knows me. Someday I'll tell you about a letter my Ex-Wife and I sent her when I was in the Navy where I wrote on one side of an 8.5x11 sheet of paper and she wrote on the other side as if she'd discovered a half-written letter, added HER side of the story, and sent it.
My Dad told me SIX WEEKS LATER that my Mom was on anti-depressants. I asked "WHY"? He said it was because my Wife was sleeping around, I was hooked on smack, and we were considering selling my oldest daughter to pay bills. NO ONE BOTHERED TO CALL, or consider that it was a joke... or ASK!

(24,853 posts)I grew up in Norwalk, next to a street called Studebaker. Studebaker Road points RIGHT at Mt. Wilson. I can remember lots of times looking north on Studebaker Road, and seeing snow on Mt. Wilson.
It's gonna be COLD in Pasadena on Thursday. I wish I had it in me to go back to Colorado Boulevard on New Years Eve and party on the sidewalk til the PD let us move out to the line painted on the street... sleep there all night and watch the Parade up close!

(2,375 posts)........and I'm waiting to see how he responds to my e-mail query about snow where he lives. I'll report back -- I doubt it's a matter of 'if' but rather 'how much'.
