Some of my favorites said Goodbye to us this year...

James Garner...I will miss you most of all. I watched you back in the black and white TV 50's...Maverick.

Robin Williams...I don't know what you were going through. I'm just sorry that you felt it was time to leave us.

Joe Cocker...no words. He was who he was...the very best at Woodstock.
I didn't get there, even though it was my Dad's greatest fear that I would join a commune and go.(I miss you so much, Dad.)

Joan Rivers and David Brenner...I won tickets to see the two of them many years ago at one performance. Enjoyed the hell out of both of them. Whatever your opinion is of one or both of them, it was just an act.

Jimmy Ruffin, "What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted"? I must have sung that song to myself a thousand times. You and your brother, David who sang with the Temptations, carried me through many sad times.

Lauren Bacall...OK, younguns, do yourself a favor. See any and all movies that she starred in. She and Humphrey Bogart were the best.

Casey Kasem...who out there older than 50 doesn't remember his American Top 40? I looked forward to it every week.

Shirley Temple...Thank you for the great movies, I still enjoy them. And thank you also for your service as a US Diplomat.

Phil Everly...Bye Bye Love

And so many others...Rest in Peace.

We think folk like he and Robin must lead fabulous lives but.....it can overwhelm them as it can us

And you are right...we tend to think of them as wanting for nothing. In reality, they are as fragile as the rest of us.

Watched "Good Will Hunting" earlier.

To cheer myself up, I think I'll watch "The Big Lebowsky" this afternoon. Wait--oh, shit...

which I had seen before and -
this is not hindsight - I remember at the time I viewed it, it made me uneasy,
bec. he was manic - about 98% of the time.
It was unsettling to watch,
I found (even the first time I watched it) I couldn't really laugh. Altho the audience was going nuts.
