Life with Mitt: Ann Romney discusses politics, MS at Four Arts - See more at: http://www.palmbeachda

<snip>

Romney talked about her life as the wife of former Massachusetts governor and two-time Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney. Married for 45 years, the couple have five sons and 22 grandchildren.

She also discussed her drive to open the Ann Romney Center for Neurologic Diseases, which is set to open in 2016 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. The center will work to find cures and new treatments for multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, Lou Gehrig’s disease (known as ALS), Parkinson’s disease and brain tumors.

Romney was 49 when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1998.

“I went into a severe depression,” she said. “I thought my life was over.”

Her health deteriorated, until she connected with neurologist Howard Weiner, who will head the new research facility. She’s been in remission for several years.

“I recognize that many people don’t go into permanent remission like I have done, whose disease continues to progress,” she said. “I can tell you, help is on the way.”

I can write about this as I have a lot of knowledge about it.

Mrs. Robme was diagnosed at the age of 49 with is not at all good, as the older you are at the age of diagnosis, the worse the outcome and severity of this illness tends to be sadly.

While it is possible to go into "remission", I've never heard of anyone going into remission permanently.

She may be in remission now and claims to have been (despite her little "flair" during the last campaign) in remission for 8 years (huh?). With this most recent statement she claims to be about cured which I believe and know is a crock.

In any event, I do wish her the best as a fellow sufferer of this illness but I know there is no cure for it, only experimental drugs that may or may not help and may have fatal side effects and many palliative things like pain pills, steroids that eat your body up, etc. What is needed is a CURE for this disease which they have no clue as to what the cause of it is.

Say what you like Mrs. Robme, but I for one don't believe you even though I wish I could.

Sheesh, some people will say anything when it comes to political goals and money won't they?
