The police had their first big break in the case when they discovered that one of the brothers, Saïd, had left his identity card in the first car used by the gunmen, which was found abandoned Wednesday evening after a crash. The authorities seemed to catch another break when the men robbed the gas station. The manager of the station said they were wearing masks and waving Kalashnikov assault rifles, like the ones used in the attack on the newspaper office.

The two guys made sure to wear masks and gloves, etc, they methodically executed a target list of people at that magazine whilst letting other people live, they carried out their attack in a professional manner by covering for each other whilst in a shoot out with the cops, they took the time to make sure they picked up a shoe that had fallen out of their car whilst they were trying to get away,

SO

are we really expected to believe after all that, after they got away from the immediate crime scene, and after they had given themselves breathing room from the authorities, that they left an id card in the car.
