(15,429 posts)I love the hate mail that Markos will post from time to time that he gets from losers who get themselves BoJoed.

(15,429 posts)There's an algorithm. When you have enough posts and recs, you get trusted user status. Trusted users can "Hide Rate" posts as well as rec them. There are clear guidelines for using HRs and anybody who abuses the trusted user (TU) status, will losr that status for abusing the HRs.
You only HR troll posts.
I've seen a new troll BoJoed in less than twelve seconds. Some trolls get through and post for a while, but the system eventually catches up with them.
No MIRT, no hosts, just trusted users.

(15,429 posts)I will, however, find issue with people who post attacks on other liberal sites.
For example, I disagree with FireDogLake a lot, but I'm not a big enough jerk to come on to DU telling DUers not to read FireDogLake. In fact, I know a lot of DUers find value in FDL and I'll leave it to them.
The Liberal side of the web gets enough attacks from wingnuts, so forgive me if I find any post that is nothing more than an attack on another liberal site to be in poor taste on any liberal site.

(71,265 posts)I generally only read DKos when an item is linked here. I never navigated around the site enough to figure it out - let alone their systems. Interesting system.

(15,429 posts)DU is the best site on the web for anything breaking.

(48,958 posts)- there were some great group anaylses on various breaking news, on underdiscussed (in the msm) policy issues, etc. That is part of what hooked me in early in 2002. Ah - reminiscing.
Once the first primary season (2004) transpired, the discussion became more just discussion and on breaking news. Much less analysis. Still some until the next primary cycle. This place eats each other up through primary cycles, and never quite rebounds in the same form/dynamic as prior to that election season.

We don't need a DK narc here telling us what someone else does somewhere else.

(15,429 posts)I find DU is a great source for breaking stuff, usually see stuff posted here before anywhere else, especially the MSM.
I find DK is a great source for in depth analysis, especially the post you linked. Although I understand why in some districts and states, the best we can hope for is a Third Way Democrat, we can do a lot better in a lot of districts and states. DK was a driving force behind dumping Lieberman because Connecticut could, quite frankly, have a more liberal Senator.
I only donate to candidates for Congress that DK is willing to endorse for donations.
Oh, and BOB JOHNSON!

(37,573 posts)I am not sure about your mission though. You may decide, after putting up with us (or at least me, I do, after all, show up on many, many ignore lists) that you don't like DU either.
Mostly though, we are gonna see DKos as an ally, unless our old pal Carlos is still there.
We will generally though, find other issues to be more interesting than Meta-type drama at DKos, although our own Meta-drama is the train wreck we cannot look away from (for many of us).
