First, it was Larry Summers. Now Antonio Weiss.
Two rich and patriotic Americans that love their country, and who want to serve the 99%. Both unfairly prevented from serving the 99% (medium-rare, IIRC) by that difficult woman from Massachusetts that so many of you moonbats worship.
The 99% will not be served, thanks to Professor Warren!
And still, the crazed mewlings from you people!!! "Elizabeth Warren for President! A unicorn in every pot! Yay!"
First off, Elizabeth Warren has said she's not running, and unlike Hillary she means it. You can keep up with that "she only uses the present tense" nonsense, but you're not fooling anyone smart, like me... do you honestly think that woman is bright enough to understand how to use language with that kind of precision? She's a Harvard Law professor, not an English teacher, for chrissakes!
Second, as you people are reminded daily, Warren has far more power as Senator then she can ever have as President. Presidents are powerless. As we keep telling you, presidents are NOT dictators. Power-wise, they're somewhere between a project manager and a vice president of supply chain. For example, suppose your sick fantasy comes true, and Warren becomes POTUS: she'll no longer have a vote in the Senate to stop the presidential appointments that you hate so much, like Summers and Weiss.
Think about it. Think very carefully. And make sure that we keep her in the Senate. Let's really, really make sure of that. It's for your own good. You can trust me, I'm very smatr.
Regards,
Third-Way Manny

(1,397 posts)I want her to stay in the Senate so she can continue to block one-percenters who will serve only the 1% -- just as she did in this case.
Larry Summers and Antonio Weiss are creatures of Wall Street who do not give a rat's ass about the rest of us -- just so they and their super-rich friends can continue to pile up the money.

(6,960 posts)... would be making appointments of 1 percent sycophants?
(And we know she would.)
Better to have a President Elizabeth Warren who wouldn't make those kinds of appointments in the first place.

(45,251 posts)There had been a strong conservative streak in the Party, esp. among Southern white male politicians, dating back to the Lincoln-Douglas debates, if not further but that wing never became the majority of the party until Bubba got elected (ironically, more because of party loyalty and Perot than because of the DLC. Nonetheless.....)
I bet fewer people know what Warren says than know what the President says. So, whether keeping her as one of a small minority of Democrats in the Senate best serves your long term goals depends on what your goals are.
There are good reasons why claiming Warren can do more in the Senate than she can in the Oval Office has been a Third Way talking point since people started talking about Warren for President, esp. in preference to the anointed Hillary.

(53,395 posts)a figure head position. It was a sad event which propelled him to power. Truman also gave his seat up to be Vice President but Roosevelt was clearly very ill by then so he was becoming President.

So, why can't we think a bit more strategically by building the Senate necessary for looking deeply at policy?
No one seems to be too upset about how we let this present day SCOTUS get it's focus, do we? Yet, we had weak and unchecked work to let this happen.
It's a long season, and it isn't going to turn around unless we start to recognize that.

(10,007 posts)Claiming the power to execute citizens without due process of law, and based only upon the Leader's discretion, is the defining trait of a dictator.
Since all freedom-loving Third Way acolytes heartily endorse giving the President this power, they certainly do think that Presidents are dictators. At least, that's what it looks like.

(34,589 posts)What you and your ilk conveniently forget is that in these cases, Obama is sworn to follow the secret process put into place by the President of the United States himself to ensure that nobody gets killed who looks Western.

(45,251 posts)engineering than males and that, rather than biases like his, were the reason women were underrepresented in universities in those fields. Will the Party that made so much of the "war on women" just ahead of the 2012 Presidential is going to take his word on Warren?
On January 14, 2005, Harvard President Lawrence Summers said that the underrepresentation of female scientists at top universities may be in part due to natural differences between men and women.
Why does this matter? Well, it looks as if Summers, who served in the Obama White House as director of the National Economic Council until the end of 2010, may be the front-runner to succeed Ben Bernanke at the Federal Reserve Board. That's based off new reporting from The Washington Post's Ezra Klein. A source close to Obama told The New York Times' John Harwood that Summers "should be" the choice to lead the Fed.
Alarms are already beginning to go off. The feminist advocacy group UltraViolet issued a statement Tuesday night saying, "Women will not soon forget if President Obama picks Mr. Summers." Some, including UltraViolet, are particularly peeved because for months the presumed front-runner was a woman, Janet Yellen. David Dayen at Salon has a story up Wednesday morning headlined "Sexist Larry Summers Will Destroy the Economy." That story also reports that the White House is leaning toward Summers. On Twitter, Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore.; called the potential pick "disconcerting."

As we know, Yellen got that slot. Janet Yellen, first female to hold the position. Probably just coincidences.

(34,589 posts)I've had a nice set of drill bits for more than a decade, never broke one. Last week Mrs. Goldstein decided to take up home repairs, snapped a bit.
I think we have all the proof that we need here.
merrily
(45,251 posts)Besides, why did Mrs. Manny Goldsein decide to take up home repairs last week? Perhaps because owning a set of drill bits is not the same as actually using them?
The prosecution of Mr. Summers rests. The persecution prosecution of Mr. Goldstein is just warming up. (Pls tell Mrs. Goldstein I work cheap,)
