I'll try to find some sources for you, my exposure to that info was back in the 90s, there was a documentary made about his childhood, much to his chagrin, that was mostly recollection of his mother's. She wasn't all that fond of him IIRC as was illustrated in the documentary. It was a film I watched in some political science class. He may have had that buried, I have tried in vain to find it in years past. And there were news articles about his single mother living on public assistance when he was young that hit the press during his term as Speaker and afterward... he wasn't well liked by most progressives, seems that Wisconsin politicians have contracted whatever it is sNewt has.

I stand corrected on my claims about public assistance - unless it was before his step father showed up.

Perhaps the documentary/bio that I saw years ago was a hack job, have to wonder. And I say that humbly as I offer what I did find that is more recent and covers much more detail about him... regardless, he's still an unabashed self righteous a**hole.
