TOKYO (Kyodo) -- A group of citizens including some from Fukushima Prefecture on Tuesday filed a second criminal complaint against a former nuclear safety official and eight others, arguing they failed to take necessary preventive measures in the Fukushima nuclear crisis.
It follows one filed in June 2012 against Tokyo Electric Power Co.'s then Chairman Tsunehisa Katsumata and others for causing the disaster at the utility's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant in March 2011.
Among the accused this time were Yoshinori Moriyama, a former official in charge of nuclear disaster countermeasures at the now-defunct Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency, officials at TEPCO and others.
In the written complaint filed with the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office, the group said the nine were responsible for a number of citizens' exposure to radiation in the Fukushima crisis by neglecting to take countermeasures for possible severe accidents.

The links still work. Posted above on DU2, but now I can only find it in my Journal. Pity, as several of the replies were also informative.

(13,685 posts)Don't they understand nukes are perfectly safe? And that no one could predict either earthquakes or Tsunamis? That the nuke plant owners did everything they could ever possibly do to ensure nuke plants stay safe?
Sure, sure, there are only like a million or more people that have been made 'uncomfortable' by Fukushima blowing sky-high, and maybe the pacific has been polluted, sure, sure, but we all know that we are in good hands via the big corporate nuke plant owners that make plutonium for bombs to keep us all safe.
You do realize, don't you, that if it wasn't for nuke power plants, we'd all be living in caves?
