Look, it's no big deal. So the police were shooting black teen mugshots.

Seriously. I could pretend this was being made up. But it isn't. It's really happening. But no policy was violated.

Look, the Chief was interviewed, and he said that there was no policy violation, and nothing wrong with the police officers shooting mugshots of black teens. They even talked to the Major Kathy Katerman, who said the police often shoot at mugshots of latinos, whites, and even women. Now, she's a white woman, so if anyone would have the right to shoot at some pictures of white women....... Or something.

Major Kathy Katerman told HuffPost that the department has multiple lineups for target practice. Some feature only white men, others are all Latino and one features photos of only women.

"The public thinks there should be one woman and one white man and one black, but that's not really what test is about," Katerman said. "We have targets of all races."

Police Chief Scott Dennis told NBC South Florida that officers used poor judgment. No one would be punished, however, Dennis said.

In other news, Congress isn't moving nearly fast enough on the killing cops is a hate crime thing. Damn it, the cops have a tough job, or something.

So dumb. Next it will be gang members probably using them for target practice. Seems like a vicious circle of fools playing into bullshit. I get that murderous criminals deserve no generosity. But there are too many victimless drug crimes mixed in this scenario. Cops should want the people on their side right? It shouldn't be a war zone game but hearts and minds matter right? I want a world where I look at cops with respect where I would want to go out of my way to help them. They must too. But they are pigeonholed by bad laws.

What's wrong with the old targets without actual pictures?

You can see where this is going...targets of kids in hoodies, Muslim garb, etc.! The Major didn't mention shooting at Eastern targets (North Korean?). She needs to put a stop to this practice and not defend it.

It's hard to explain Florida, and I live here. Clueless...

This is totally the opposite of "serve and protect", and those responsible should be tried as criminals. So, I guess no explanation is actually needed.

that 'Coventry' is the best idea for most of these folks.
Let em have the 4square, wall it off, go wild. Clean up and repair when everythings over and the bodies are buried, be glad to be rid of the dross.

The problem with racism in the criminal justice system is bigger than a few bad cops. It's built right into it.

...so the chief says he has a variety of arrays. Black arrays. Hispanic arrays. Even arrays of women. Kinda like Mitt's notebooks of women I guess.

So how about civil servant arrays, Chief? Got any of those? Say for example you were to pass over an officer for a promotion... and then let's say he decides.... oh, I don't know.... maybe to use this target to practice on for instance:

- Would that be okay, too?

I mean, really? I'd like to know what polices they have that prohibit anything. Is there anything that the police in North Miami Beach aren't supposed to do?

on his show (SiriusXM Urban View). One of the items that he brought up is that many departments use "computer-generated" images rather than real ones (if they use any image on the target at all).

I heard on local news radio this morning that Eric Holder was here in Philly yesterday as part of a multi-city tour to facilitate frank discussion between the police and the communities they are directed to serve, and stuff like this should be incorporated into any final report that gets issued.
