if you want to convince me that overfunding SS for 40 years was somehow beneficial and innocuous, i will never agree to that proposition. it was a scam.

(37,305 posts)This makes me really really mad. Damn I hope the postal workers are able to collect. They need to lobby for a separate fund NOW.

(10,103 posts)A similar trick was used by Ronnie Reagan, who increased the payroll tax and used it to fund the government, so that he wouldn't have to raise taxes again. That's one of the reasons that the deficit is so high and the republicans are screaming about the 'inviability' of social security.
There should be a massive rebellion, IMHO.
