My personal favorite is the bit about the gun ban. They love to cite that he banned guns sometime in the mid 30s (no idea if it's true). The underlying assumption is that somehow a bunch of German rednecks, excuse me patriots, could have managed to defeat one of the most formidable armies in history. It took millions of casualties, billions of dollars, and years of effort to finally defeat the Wehrmacht, but they figure they could have done it in an afternoon. Ok!
