Oscar Collazo was one of two Puerto Rican separatists and would-be assasins of President Truman. He participated in an event that was responsible for the death of a White House police officer (Leslie Coffelt); the debilitating injury of a second officer (Donald Birdzell); and the injury of a third officer (Joeseph Downs).

Collazo was pardoned.

My point: if we can pardon Collazo, we can pardon Peltier.

is 70 yrs. old I believe, and has some serious health issues. If Obama doesn't pardon him, he will most likely will die in prison.

To be completely technically accurate: Collazo was sentenced to death; Truman commuted his sentence to life; Jimmy Carter further commuted his sentence to time served and released him. The practical impact is the same, and if the President commuted Peltier's sentence to time served, it would have the same practical effect as a pardon. It would allow Leonard to leave prison and return to Pine Ridge, as Collazo was allowed to leave prison and return to Puerto Rico.

Peltier has served more time than Collazo did.
