13. bread bags were more than just footwear in our house

they were used for all sorts of storage containers, leftovers and even book cover liners.

If it might get wet and you didn't want it to, put it in a bread bag.
Can't remember what all my mother used them for, but I remember they were all over the place, with many a spare folded neatly in the upper right hand kitchen drawer.
