NRA ads on DU

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by greatauntoftriplets (a host of the General Discussion forum).

How many times must I report these disgusting ads before they go away?

10. Or... CLICK on the NRA ad -- LET THE NRA FUND DU with a $1, while paying the Ad Service even more.

If a site wants to troll DU, I have no qualms clicking on their link so that DU reaps the reward.

Some of those ads will run, as a total cost, over $2.50 a click. Let DU get that $1, instead of ignoring them.

===

By doing this, you can fund DU more than by dedicating a monthly subscription of $10.

DU gets money, it costs the NRA money, and you're not changing your mind. We win!

13. Yep. You do it once per day, since the Ad Service resolves multiple clicks from the same residence.

Clicking on the same ad, whether it's from one website or from multiple websites, will only result in one charge.

So if you frequent several sites that show the same ad, pick the site you want the money to go to as you click on the link and take a stroll through their website. I always click on a sublink at the destination site just to make sure the click is fully resolved with the ad service.

Who knows, you might like something at the site you go to.

2. well then don't visit nra sites and they will go away

The ads are generated from your browsers history.

Or buy a star. No ads with a star.

No star then you get ads from places YOU visit.

So stop going to nra sites and there will be no nra ads appearing on your browser when you visit DU.

Pretty simple.

I have never visited an NRA site. I believe they encourage murder.

whether you knew it or not.

Buy a star its easier.

When I am not logged in and visit DU I get tons of sports and shoe ads. Ugg. But that's probably because I bought a pair of Uggs for the hubby this Christmas.

6. As to your suggestion that the ads are generated by browser history -

less so than by the content on the page on which they appear. Likely they are appearing on pages with captions or threads related to gun violence.

they'll never go away.

Sometimes they admins will block them, but you have to report them to the admins - or in the ATA forum.

that works for all of your Interweb browsing:

This is an "add on" and helps to load pages faster, you can choose what gets blocked etc. I love it, few if any ads at all, including those annoying video ads that are way down page when you open a site. I won't browse the web unless it is activated.
