A photo of Sarah Palin was posted to Facebook on Friday showing the former Republican vice presidential nominee holding a sign that read "Fuc_ You Michael Moore."
Palin was pictured alongside two men, one of whom appears to be Sgt. Dakota Meyers, a Medal of Honor recipient, and the person who apparently posted the image. Meyers posted the image with the caption "Here's a tribute to you Michael Moore. Share it and make it trending #michaelmoore." Both instances of the letter "o" in Moore were replaced with what appeared to be crosshairs in the handmade sign shown in the photo. Michael Moore has received criticism from conservatives for his scathing comments on "American Sniper" a movie based on the autobiography of former Navy SEAL and sniper Chris Kyle. Mediaite received the photo on Friday via a tip, which Editor in Chief Andrew Kirell shared on Twitter:

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
YOUR COMMENTS
So, have we decided that the term "bitch" is acceptable for a woman yet? I say hell no..but a lot of people are not getting that message, even if its a Republican..or Sarah Palin, as much as I hate her too. Can we stop using this term for women? Leave it for the dogs.

(7,908 posts)Communist and Socialist factions in this country and around the world take a very strong line against sexism and have done so since at least the late 1950s.
Here, for example, is the current Communist Party-USA's statement on sexism:
http://www.cpusa.org/faq/
One of the raps against the so-called "New Left" during the 60s and early 70s was that it continued to promote the patriarchy and sexism among its various iterations (like SDS and the Black Panthers). Please do note that the CP-USA has come in for recent criticism from even harder-line Marxist organizations because of its willingness to work with the Democrats and the bourgeoisie in general
I'm relying on some distant and vague memories here and will have to brush up a bit on my specifics. In the meantime, this article is a good general survey of the topic:

(45,251 posts)I am no expert but I do see a lot that is good in socialism. But I didn't see women in a lot of the most highly paid, most powerful positions in the USSR, either.
But, let's get too far afield. My comment went to how acceptable sexist terms and comment are or are not on DU.
KingCharlemagne
(7,908 posts)USSR put the first female astronaut into space (Valentina Tereshkova) and its scientific and medical establishments featured women prominently, long before doing so became fashionable in the West. This is not an issue I spend a lot of time on, to be honest, as I'm more focused on international affairs and advancing the cause of socialism in this country. The Socialists and Communists who form part of my social network take anti-sexism almost as a 'given' to the extent that we acknowledge the need to stand against it forthrightly but don't feel a pressing need to argue much about whether sexism exists (it does) or whether we should or should not stand against it (we should).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valentina_Tereshkova
merrily
(45,251 posts)That is like saying the US has long had a lot of women teachers, as well as male teachers, ergo, capitalism is not sexist.
I think I am going to stick with big bucks and power.
And, also, my comment was about sexist terms on DU. We're getting a little far afield.
KingCharlemagne
(7,908 posts)Socialists and Communists were not as far along as they were on racial equality until at least the late 50s. And on LGBT equality, I think the West actually has been more progressive than the Socialists and Communists until very recently. For example, Stalin re-criminalized homosexuality in the USSR (under Lenin, it had been decriminalized for about 10 years) in the early 30s and that proscription stayed in effect, IIRC, until the break-up of the USSR (at least as a law on the books).
Great discussing with you. Hope to read more of your work soon.

(45,251 posts)Obama was head of the Democratic Party in 2008 and still is. Many articles written during his first term about how few females were among his WH advisors or in the "heavy hitter" part of his cabinet.
This is one http://www.diversityinc.com/diversity-and-inclusion/obamas-cabinet-diversity-record-embarrassing-as-hell/
During his second term, many articles have been written about the pay gap.
But, I don't blame or praise him or the Party because DU thinks sexist terms are okay for Palin. (Hillary, too?)

(6 posts)Moore's a gasbag asshole who doesn't give two shits about anything but lining his own pockets, kind of like the right wing film makers and others like Al Sharpton. They all exploit situations to make themselves noticed or wealthy - this will encourage people to pay attention to Moore, so he thinks it's free publicity.
I still don't like Sarah Palin either - she's as psychotic as Moore, in my mind.

Sarah Palin is a proven liar. She hasn't even produced a birth certificate for one of her children born under questionable circumstances. And yet the Republicans don't worry about her child's birth certificate, instead of the President's.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS
Uhh...nice try. The photo is named human-female-dog.jpg (right click the photo and click "view photo" to see the URL). But subtle or not, this post still calls Sarah Palin a bitch. Just as bigoted and against DU ToS as racist slurs against black right wingers like Allen West (whether explicitly using the N-word or posting a photo of a primate).
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Fri Jan 23, 2015, 09:29 PM, and the Jury voted 3-4 to LEAVE IT.

It's pretty mainstream, except among the very proper holdouts.
I think it's not as gross a word as "bloody" or "shitty" which proper people use without getting the vapors.
