Mayor de Blasio of New Yorker said this is one of the worst storms in the city’s history.

NEW YORK (PIX11) – Mayor Bill de Blasio is urging New Yorkers to be cautious as one of the worst storms in the city’s history approaches.

In a news conference Sunday afternoon, the mayor told New Yorkers not to underestimate the power of the storm, which is expected to blanket much of the region with up to 2 feet of snow.

“The city’s doing everything we know how to do to keep you safe,” de Blasio said, adding that nearly 500 salt spreaders are ready to be deployed before the snow starts falling and that city workers will be on 12-hour shifts to fight the looming storm.

City schools will be open on Monday but all after-school activities have been canceled. It’s likely that schools will be closed Tuesday, de Blasio said.

*What could be worse than Sandy? It's possible.

2. Remind schools chancellor to close schools on Tuesday.

Esp. if it's at 12' plus.

She's a career bureaucrat, Bloomberg holdover and basically knows nothing about real life.

Seriously, Bill: You have to TELL HER TO CLOSE THE SCHOOLS.

3. Oh man, I feel for the people in the path of that storm

We had a whopper hit us, last January. We were just recovering from the extended power outage caused by the big ice storm when about 16 inches of snow fell. I'm always prepared with emergency food and supplies, but that kind of weather can push you to the limits.
