Acting Sweden Democrat leader Mattias Karlsson has said Islamism is "a greater threat than Nazism", sparking a strong response from Jewish and Muslim communities as the world marks 70 years since the liberation of Nazi concentration camps. The Sweden Democrats have roots in neo-Nazi movements of the 1980s and 1990s but have sought to distance themselves from their background and to establish themselves as a mainstream political party.
The anti-immigration group is currently the third largest group in Sweden's Riksdag, scoring almost 13 percent of the vote in the last general election. "If you look at what is happening in the world right now, you cannot hide the fact that Islamism is a major threat to human rights and democracy throughout the world," added Karlsson in his SVT interview.
His comments have provoked outrage among Jews in Sweden, who are marking the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Nazi extermination camps in occupied Poland.
Lena Posner-Körösi, chairwoman of the Jewish community in Stockholm, whose father emigrated to Sweden from Germany in 1939 told The Local: "As we make this commemoration, we want people to recognize evil in the world and to know that this can happen to any group, not just Jews. For him [Mattias Karlsson] to talk about the threat of Islam as he has done is very dangerous and shows he hasn't learnt anything. And yes, he is from a group with a Nazi past."

The Swedish far-right seems to think that it is more politically acceptable to hate Muslims than Jews. The far-right hate ("us" ethnic Swedes vs. "them" non-Swedes) continues , just in a different form.

Eighteen months after an intrepid gentile journalist strolled the streets of Malmo, Sweden wearing a yarmulke, in order to get a sense of how residents of the city view Jews, a new video suggests that the situation has only worsened, Israels NRG News reported Thursday.

This time it was Peter Lindgrens turn to don a kippah and Star of David chain around his neck and head into town. The result: He received direct threats as he walked through the city, according to expressen.se.
Lindgren, walking with a hidden camera and microphone alongside, recorded every step. The report showed the reporter enduring verbal abuse by a man who called him a Jewish s*** and told him to leave. Another person hit him and shouted Satan Jew, at him. As they approached the the citys neighborhoods with higher Muslim populations, the threats only increased. Some 20 percent of the 300,000 residents of Swedens third-largest city are Muslim, according to statistics.
Then a whole gang came along to threaten the Jewish reporter, while occupants of neighboring homes shouted abuse at him. The broadcast caused a public storm in Sweden, with reactions by public figures, local Jewish organizations and international groups.
The clip, which was broadcast on Swedens national television, examined the degree of threats Malmos Jews face. The city is infamous for having the largest number of anti-Semitic incidents in the country, many of them perpetrated by members of the Muslim community. According to the report, many of [Malmo's remaining Jews] are afraid to leave their homes; many want to leave the city and do not want their children to grow up there.

10 years ago you could walk ANYWHERE in Malmo at anytime of day or night and be totally safe.
I cant imagine why that's changed.
