Democrats fighting back ag Corporate Agenda of Rahm Emanuel - Chicago

1/27/2015

Democracy For America (DFA) has kicked off a campaign to support seven Chicago aldermen that are "under attack for standing up to Mayor Rahm Emanuel," according to the group.

The national organization is endorsing and supporting Chicago City Council Progressive Reform Coalition aldermen John Arena (45th), Toni Foulkes (16th), Leslie Hairston (5th), Rick Munoz (22nd), Roderick Sawyer (6th), Nick Sposato (38th), and Scott Waguespack (32nd).

The aldermen "have taken the lead in fighting Rahm's corporate agenda. Now Rahm is coming after them, using millions of dollars in a Super PAC funded by large corporations to try and defeat these seven progressive Aldermen. Rahm's goal: replace them with cronies who answer only to him and his wealthy backers, rather than to the people," reads a DFA announcement to the group's supporters. The Super PAC being referenced by DFA is Chicago Forward, which has sent out campaign mailers against progressive aldermen and given campaign money to candidates in the city's upcoming elections. Chicago Foward is an independent organization that is supporting candidates "who demonstrate a shared commitment to policies and priorities that will continue to move our city forward," according to the group's website.

DFA will spend at least $50,000 between now and election day, February 24, in support of the seven sitting aldermen. The funds will be used to "deploy a team of top-tier organizers to core races, assist campaigns with data modeling and database access, and run daily grassroots phone banks and neighborhood canvass operations on the ground in Chicago."

"We're dedicating national resources and organizing power to defend these seven Aldermen to ensure that 'Mayor Rahm' and his corporate cronies don't kneecap Chicago's progressive champions and stifle the voice of the grassroots in a city that has a long and proud tradition of pushing for progressive reform," said DFA Chair Jim Dean......

It will (and has for some) instilled a learned helplessness that makes the citizenry docile.

We simply must expose and get rid of these types of Democrats (and they are pervasive) if we are to ever rebuild the working, middle, and poverty classes.

To be clear: I'm criticizing the Rahm Emanuel Democrat; not those that are fighting him.
