They have called Senator Elizabeth Warren an extremely attractive candidate in the 2016 presidential campaign. They have said that she is the hottest commodity in the Democratic Party and that she has demonstrated the passion and intensity that Hillary Rodham Clinton lacks.
Those glowing compliments are not from the liberal activists who are trying to persuade Ms. Warren to challenge Mrs. Clinton, who is expected to be the partys leading contender in 2016. They come from conservatives who are eager to drum up a contentious Democratic primary and who see Ms. Warren, a first-term senator from Massachusetts, as best positioned to weaken, and potentially defeat, Mrs. Clinton.
On cable television and in private strategy sessions, conservatives are steadily stoking the flames of a movement to recruit Ms. Warren, who has said she will not run but whose anti-Wall Street economic message resonates with the liberal base of the Democratic Party.
Hillary Rodham Clinton speaking in December in New York. As she prepares for a likely presidential campaign in 2016, the cottage industry that opposes her is evolving to attack her on new grounds. Please give us Elizabeth Warren. Please, God, let us have Elizabeth Warren, said Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas who is considering a presidential bid.

(20,277 posts)Warren would make mincemeat of that fool in 2 minutes flat.

(14,255 posts)Hillary, I suppose is the unspoken directive, and in another thread, it was theorized that some Warren supporters are likely GOPers.
Guess the campaign season has begun! Ooooh, I can't support Liz, because Huckabee!

(14,255 posts)I just don't want to get stuck with a candidate that I have absolutely no enthusiasm or desire for.

(65,616 posts)All these scared white republican men, they seem to think not a one of them can beat HRC...and they are right. SO, they think that Warren would be easier to beat, which may or may not be true.
One thing I do know, Fuckabee would lose hands down to both HRC and Elizabeth Warren. I can't even believe he is serious about running, he is on par with Pawnold Frump imo.

(63,912 posts)not only is she smart, attractive and has a great message, she has roots in her native Oklahoma so the "good old boy" thing won't get off the ground against her.

(15,189 posts)Hillary looks unbeatable now, but I'm sure in the distant future there will be more bad baggage, or sniper fire videos. I got booted from the Hillary group for bringing that lie up. I like Hillary, but when you lie about things that can prove you a liar, it scares me. And "IF" it's found Bill was on an island with young girls with Epstein, she's sunk IMO. Unless she divorces him.

(100,079 posts)Really who does the GOP have that they actually think has a chance of winning in 2016? Rand Paul? Jeb Bush? Chris Christie? Really, let the Koch Brothers blow a couple billion in the election. Money can buy everything, but it can't buy the White House.

(13,598 posts)Warren would probably be less likely to beat a Republican candidate than a more centrist Democrat would be.

(1,980 posts)Of course, the absolute collapse of the Blue Dogs tends to undercut that old argument. In 2005, there were over 30. Today, there are 14. I have no idea if Warren could win over GOP voters, but I am reasonably certain no centrist/right-wing Democrat has a prayer. If they had a chance, they'd still be in Congress.

(24,692 posts)Still the purpose of a primary is to work out differences within each party. We'll do that and end up supporting whoever wins our primary just as republicans will likely do in theirs. If either party has substantial defections from supporting their candidate the other will probably win.

(111,098 posts)Democrats will vote for either of them. The question might be, which can get out the most voters and create the most interest?

But from all of these candidates of both parties, the only candidate encouraged to run by both Dems and Independents is Hillary.
