The officers say they found nearly six grams of meth, security cameras hidden in various rooms, plus 15 pets and urine/feces all over the home.
ABC-7 has been told video from the security system shows one of the pets, a pit bull, showed more interest in Edmond's 11-month-old baby than he or Edmond's mother did.
LCPD detectives who watched the recordings say in a three-day period, the baby was only taken out of the crib 30 minutes to one hour a day.
The boy's only source of consistent contact was the pit bull, who would lick the child's face, keep him company and play with his toys.
The child's grandmother, 57-year-old Margaret Edmond, is also charged with child abuse.
Police say a recording shows her slapping and jabbing the boy and even knocking him against the crib bars.
LCPD is also reporting Edmond did not let his girlfriend and baby bathe in more than a month, adding the boy was only given 4 baths in his entire life.
