<snip>
A three-year-old has shot his father and pregnant mother inside a motel room in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The boy was able to remove a loaded handgun from his mother’s purse, before shooting his father in the lower backside on Saturday.

Both parents were treated at a nearby hospital. The father has since been released, but the mother, who is eight months pregnant, was hospitalised.

She is believed to be in a stable condition, however the condition of her unborn baby is unknown.

Police said that the parents could face charges of criminal negligence for allowing a loaded gun to get into the possession of a child.

Sadly, this sort of thing is so common it doesn't even startle me anymore.

This group is ant-gun and a safe haven for those that agree with that position, not the "gungeon"

This group has nothing to do about guns and could be posted here for all to see

It just would be nice if posters followed the SOP and really Skinner's guidance on gun related posts. I think it is kind of disrespectful to Skinner.

that happens to involve a gun.

I do not wish to search state by state for news stories, or wade though pro or con gun activist sites, either.

The idea some gun enthusiasts find it a little offensive is a joke, but not surprising.

Nope, I just like to follow the forum SOP and not disrespect Skinner.

I use "latest threads" and and all of these show up, I look at the ones I want to.

I would prefer that a weapon never be in a purse and should be in a proper holster on your body. To bad that is not put out by the "gun safety" groups. I hope these people learned a lesson on gun safety.

The GD SoP related to "guns"

GUNS

News stories (and related content) from reputable mainstream sources about efforts to strengthen or weaken gun control legislation in any jurisdiction in the United States, national news stories (and related content) from reputable mainstream sources about high-profile gun crimes, and viral political content from social media or blogs that would likely be of interest to a large majority of DU members are permitted under normal circumstances.

Local stories about gun crime and "gun porn" threads showing pictures of guns or discussing the merits of various firearms are not permitted under normal circumstances and should be posted in the Gun Control and RKBA Group.

Open discussion of guns is permitted during very high-profile news events which are heavily covered across all newsmedia.
