I saw something that said he was wearing the don't tread on me shirt popular with the Teahadists
No picture and I did not watch the game so anyone know?
I don't follow football but I do watch the news so I have seen him on tv and know he is a coach for the Patriots.

(12,958 posts)According to the Tea Party website
This explains all the cheating and the unsportsmanlike behavior of his team during their parade.

(588 posts)I personally like knowing who is an enemy to freedom and who is not.
I don't care if they are a football coach or the old lady across the street.

(37,748 posts)If I am suspicious that someone is an enemy of freedom, I make it a point to do some actual research on my own, because yes Virginia, there are stupid questions.
However, I can readily understand that doing that research would undermine my flame bait

You have the best running back for short yardage in the business and you dont take up to 3 runs to get it in?
If I found out any given person was a teapartier, I would have zero respect for them, so I get your reason for posting this, since he is New England, he is the enemy regardless

(20,277 posts)Oh ffs! The only thing that coach did was win the Super Bowl.
What's your point with this silliness?
MineralMan
(146,281 posts)So what? It doesn't necessarily mean anything about his politics. That imagery has other meanings as well. In any case, he didn't wear any such thing at the game. Your post is just silly, really. Football isn't politics. It's just football. Go see if you can find any political statements by the man and post those, if you wish. Who cares what t-shirt he wore in the locker room?
Here's the image and a link:

(20,277 posts)the PATRIOTS would have a shirt like that!
This person is just trying to whip up fake controversy.
MineralMan
(146,281 posts)As far as I know that coach hasn't really said anything at all about politics. A Google search seems to confirm that he's not a political voice.
MineralMan
(146,281 posts)Let's see: The Patriots are based in BOSTON! Who knew? Just because the teabaggers have co-opted that symbol doesn't mean that its history has been revised. For pete's sake, it's a symbol of our Revolutionary War and Boston is right in the heart of that war's history. I'm betting that shirt is based on that, not on some fantasy of teabaggers.

(135,425 posts)Rush Limbaugh was POUTRAGED, I tell ya... POUTRAGED.
I bring links, because links are cool: http://www.bear-left.com/original/2002/0210patriots.html
Rush lamented to his listeners that his immediate reaction was that this was "not good," a "bad sign," "not what football is," and "not what football represents." Rush assured his fans that "teams are made up of individuals." Stars do not "de-emphasize themselves," he continued; "to do so would be false humility." The political seemed to be getting personal for Rush. Coach Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots' players were promoting qualities that were alien to Rush and downplaying two of his favorite personality traits, arrogance and ego. On first glance, Belichick is a right-winger's wet-dream, a "defensive genius" with the "IQ of a nuclear physicist," according to followers of the NFL and an admiring press. But Rush knows a subversive when he sees one.
Belichick did admit to the Boston Globe's Dan Shaughnessy that he favored the Democrats over Republicans during the media craze leading up to the Super Bowl. Is there another NFL coach with the honesty and integrity to even answer that question? What would Rush do if Mr. Belichick went to Washington? In his sleep, Rush sees a studious and hard-working Belichick working with Democratic majorities in the House and Senate. If Belichick can figure out the NFL salary cap, the nation's annual budget process would be simple arithmetic. Belichick wouldn't be giving $1.6 trillion to two-percent of the nation's team. Rush knows that no one is more prepared for a press conference than an NFL coach. Belichick was asked more tough questions in one week than Bush was in over a year. Rush fears a press conference in which a credible president compares public policy to a "team concept." Belichick has Bill Clinton's intelligence, and he's as personally boring as Al Gore. How would Republicans tear down Belichick's character? What if the Democrats captured not only the soccer moms, but also the football dads?
Now, why don't you just delete this "pot-stirring" thread?

(60,536 posts)for the past few weeks, he easily could have been responding "don't tread (i.e., walk) on me." Even if that wasn't the message he was trying to send, so what? He's a Democrat.
MineralMan
(146,281 posts)Why shouldn't the coach of a freaking New England football team wear a shirt with a Revolutionary War symbol on it? You're so off base on this one. You can still self-delete your OP, or you can leave it so we can all see how silly it is in context.

(588 posts)no question is stupid or silly
MineralMan
(146,281 posts)A little research on your part would have prevented the laughter that has ensued from your post. For example, I found the image of Bellichick at the top of Google search results. I also found the history of the Gadsden Flag and its association with the New England area and the American Revolution on Google in just seconds.
But, see, your question was based on nothing at all. It was wrongly based, because it turned out to have no factual basis. By posting your question, you revealed that you had not bothered to even look up the answer yourself. So, yes, it was a silly question.
There are silly questions. There are thousands of them. Most can be answered before asking them.
