GOP Obamacare Replacement Guts Birth Control, Abortion, And Maternity Coverage

The GOP is offering an alternative to Obamacare, in case the Supreme Court decimates the law this summer. The Republican plan eliminates coverage for birth control, bans tax credits for plans that cover abortion, and lets insurance companies decide if they ant to offer maternity coverage. Welcome to Republican family values.

Because Republicans have nothing better to do than try to repeal Obamacare for the zillionth time, they’ve introduced their own new replacement health care bill -- the Patient Choice, Affordability, Responsibility, and Empowerment (CARE) Act.

The Republican "replacement" health care bill was introduced by Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC), Senate Finance Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-UT), and House Energy and Commerce Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI), who describe it as “a legislative plan that repeals Obamacare and replaces it with common-sense, patient-focused reforms that reduce health care costs and increase access to affordable, high-quality care.”

The new bill replaces Obamacare with a plan that doesn’t require individuals to buy health care coverage or require employers to offer it. It returns the regulation of health insurance to the states, and gives individuals tax credits to help them afford health care.

Because they love fetuses but don't want them to have health care! You can't make this shit up. I hope every pro-life Duggar takes a moment to think about this. They really screwed the pooch with denying maternity. Because women who use birth control or get abortions are worthless sluts, but women forced to have babies until they drop or die is like the Virgin Mary and Gawd's Plan!

This plays to their base and keeps the voters who continue to vote against themselves voting for Republicans. Then the Republicans wants to starve the kids, not provide shelter and education but still forces births.

it decimates the provisions in Obamacare that help women. Under this plan, insurance companies can choose whether they want to offer maternity care, would no longer offer birth control coverage, and bans the use of tax credits for any policy that covers abortion. The plan also doesn’t include a ban against price discrimination against women.

None of these ideas are even new. As a Democratic press secretary discovered, their new proposal is almost exactly the same as the one they released in 2014, right down to the font, quotes, and nine bullet points.

As The Washington Post’s Dana Milbank points out, “This exercise in cut-and-paste legislation would seem to suggest that Republicans are not serious about their ‘new’ proposal. Like last time, the plan hasn’t been drafted in legislative language, so it can’t be reviewed by the Congressional Budget Office to see how much it would cost and how many would lose insurance.”

Republicans are wasting time and precious resources to vote on meaningless legislation. It’s like the movie Groundhog Day. Doing the same thing over and over and over. We’ve been living the same day with Republicans since Obama has been in office.

REPUBLICAN GROUNDHOG DAY

snip

But the most hilarious thing is listening to Republican presidential candidates talking about how the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. Republicans are actually talking about income inequality. Did I just wake up in the Twilight Zone? No, it’s the Republican Zone. Just nod your heads and pretend the fairytales that these guys are spewing make sense.

Here are rich people talking about the rich getting richer. Why do they speak about themselves in the third person? Jeb Bush is a gazillionaire and he’s complaining about getting richer. Just that concept alone defies all logic. Is he talking about all rich people, including himself? He’s gotten richer because of tax cuts that his brother implemented. Is he talking about repealing those tax cuts? How are poor people going to get richer and rich people less rich under his administration? Is he going to take money away from rich people and give it to poor people?

Idaho Lawmaker Wonders If Women Could Have A Gyno Exam By Swallowing A Tiny Camera

An Idaho lawmaker revealed his confusion about female anatomy during a legislative debate over a proposed abortion bill on Monday.
According to the Associated Press, Idaho Rep. Vito Barbieri (R) asked a doctor testifying before the House State Affairs Committee whether a woman could have a remote gynecological exam by swallowing a tiny camera. Dr. Julie Madsen told him no, that’s not possible, because items that are swallowed do not end up in the vagina.

Now this is ludicrous..

From your link.

The GOP lawmaker, who sits on the board of a right wing “crisis pregnancy center” that works to dissuade women from choosing abortion, added that “this is a proper role of government to protect life.”

Protect life, excuse me? You do not give a damn about women or children before or after a pregnancy. Who the hell do you think you are kidding. “this is a proper role of government to protect life.” Protect the child and mother before and after! Stop taking away their health benefits. Stop starving them! Stop taking away quality education. Stop paying a woman less than a man. Stop dehumanizing them. Dear gawd, men like Vito, they make me sick.

who did similar counseling. Rigid, self-righteous, and narcissistic as all get out. The only difference between him and this guy was that he at least understood human anatomy because we worked in a hospital and he was part of the professional staff. He had grown up poor in south side Chi-town but when he "got his," he failed to see that others needed help up the ladder too. He used to attend all the R fundraisers and voted straight ticket R. The rest of the staff used to joke on election days that we all needed to see who could get to the polls first to cancel his vote. I really felt sorry for the young women this jackal targeted and, if I had not been in such desparate straits for a decent paying job at the time, I would have left that one sooner. I don't have patience with men like this.

Repug illogic -

First - women have to have a baby regardless if they want it, if it will kill them, permanently injure them or if they are raped, even by a family member. So birth isn't a choice in Repug world. However, even though women have to give birth regardless of their wishes, coverage for the really high costs is optional at best, in reality would be non-existent for many. Bet the congresscritters insurance will continue to offer this coverage. Heaven forbid they they have any personal responsibility, that's for the serfs.

Man, these fuckers just hate women, don't they? Well I, for one, hate them right back with a purple passion. May they all rot in hell.
