issues and attempts to destabilize the state.Russias top investigative body said Saturday it is looking into several possible motives for the killing of prominent opposition figure Boris Nemtsov, including an attempt to destabilize the state, Islamic extremism, Ukraine conflict and his personal life.
A statement from the body, the Investigative Committee, didnt address the possibility seen as likely by many of Nemtsovs supporters that he was killed for being one of President Vladimir Putins most adamant and visible critics.
Nemtsov had been one of Putins most visible critics and his death hit other members of the opposition hard. The mourning march on Sunday could serve to galvanize the beleaguered and marginalized opposition, or it could prove to be a brief catharsis after which emotions dissipate. Through the morning, hundreds of people came to the site of Nemtsovs death to lay flowers.
Nemtsov was working on a report presenting evidence that he believed proved Russias direct involvement in the separatist rebellion that has raged in eastern Ukraine since April. Moscow denies backing the rebels with troops and sophisticated weapons.

Sounds like the investigative body already has some theories it is working on and others that are not prime candidates.

After seeing what happens to those who oppose Putin, I wouldn't look in his direction either

It was Islamic terrorists or the CIA...yep, that's the ticket!

Married 57-year-old father of four publicly cavorting with a 24-year-old - I know women who would kill their husbands for doing that.

I am sure the Russian government would love the killing of one of its principle opposition figures to be a case of a wife hiring a team of hit men to kill her husband. If I were her I would be quite worried that the government would love that explanation a bit too much.
