Curt Schilling’s revenge on trolls who threatened daughter

Former Red Sox ace Curt Schilling turned the Internet loose on his Twitter antagonists after he announced his daughter Gabby would be pitching for Salve Regina’s college softball team.

Schilling’s fond paternal congratulations were met with “tweets with the word rape, bloody underwear and pretty much every other vulgar and defiling word you could likely fathom,” the ESPN analyst wrote on his blog.

Schilling outed those responsible for the most heinous social media abuses:
‘“The Sports Guru”? Ya he’s a DJ named Adam Nagel (DJ is a bit strong since he’s on the air for 1 hour a week) on Brookdale Student Radio at Brookdale Community College. How do you think that place feels about this stud representing their school? You don’t think this isn’t going to be a nice compilation that will show up every single time this idiot is googled the rest of his life? What happens when a potential woman he’s after googles and reads this?”’

And now Nagel is paying the price. Brookdale CC announced he was “summarily suspended and will be scheduled for a conduct hearing where further disciplinary action will be taken. The Brookdale Police are actively investigating this matter. Brookdale takes this behavior very seriously and does not tolerate any form of harassment.”

They tweeted out very graphic descriptions. Schilling found their identifying information online very quickly. Some of them were college athletes who were suspended by coaches and suddenly became remorseful. There are a couple still unknown, and he asked Internet sleuths to find out who they are.

This is what he said about the guys leaving incredibly sick comments:

Curt Schilling doesn't believe in evolution, but he apparently believes this: Some Hall of Fame voters didn't put a checkmark next to his name because he's an outspoken Republican.

There's a legitimate reason to wonder why Schilling didn't get anywhere near the support from voters that John Smoltz did. Their numbers aren't that different, except for Smoltz's save total.

Smoltz was elected on his first ballot, earning 82.9 percent of the vote. Schilling, meanwhile, got 39.2 percent on his third ballot. The JAWS Hall of Fame evaluation method, however, says Schilling is better than Smoltz, 64.5 vs. 54.2 on the JAWS scale.

Schilling appeared Wednesday on Boston radio station WEEI, telling the Dennis and Callahan show that he thinks his political leanings certainly didn't help. Asked why Smoltz did so much better than him on the ballot, Schilling said:
