The Baton Rouge police department has launched an internal investigation into the actions of officers who allegedly rode on and helped decorate a float that mocked a woman for being raped as a child; by her father.
The theme of the float was of the Baton Rouge reality show, Sons of Guns. It focused on the daughter of the former television star, Will Hayden. Hayden is currently facing sexual assault charges in East Baton Rouge and Livingston Parishes, after being accused of sexually assaulting his own daughter along with two other victims.
The float was decorated with a large photo of Stephanie Ford, the sexual assault victim, with the caption underneath her photo stating, A face only a daddy could love. Other sayings on the float consisted of things like, Krewe of Sleazania, Red Jack It and Kiss Me Daddy.

No words...
On edit I do have some words. Try to get your head around the mentality of the people who would even think of something like this. Then consider they not only thought of it, they decided it was a good idea, and then actually went out and did it. Then consider those are the same people who are sanctioned by the state to wield lethal force against the citizenry, and to do so who little oversight and even fewer consequences. We live in a very sick place.

Let the BRPD what you think of their "officers of the law" flood the page. Let them know the whole country sees what they are. Keep those fuckers busy deleting comments and blocking posters, instead of shaming victims of child rape.

Sad thing is the float was probably in Baton Rouge's Mardi Gras parade, so allot of people seen it. Why did Baton Rouge let it in the parade? That's another question. I've been in community organizing of parades and I know that not every unit that shows up gets in line. This one should never have been allowed in.

The State of Louisiana depends on the tourist industry - especially New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Would tourists want to visit a place where the police held attitudes like this?
Attitudes could and would be changed, if the people got fed up enough to develop a strategy and follow through. This is actually true of America.
Remember - in America, effective strategies are those that hit the pockets of the 1%.

I have two questions that the article appears not to address:
1. Where was this "displayed - some sort of parade, or something? ... organized by who, and for what purpose?
2. Who paid for this "float"? Was it the officers themselves, or did they have funding from the department?
She ought to sue them for slander. If any department funds were used - she should sue the whole department.

(13,141 posts)The charges against him include two counts of aggravated rape and one count of forcible rape. If convicted of aggravated rape, he faces a mandatory life sentence.
Hayden is accused of raping two preteen girls, according to the Advocate. He is accused of raping a girl in East Baton Rouge beginning in March 2013, when she was 11 years old, until August 2014. Additionally, a woman, who is now in her 30s, also came forward claiming Hayden raped her in the 1990s when she was 12 years old, the Advocate reported. She told detectives she was staying with Hayden's family at the time of the alleged assault because her house had burned down.
In late August, Hayden was arrested as a fugitive and charged with aggravated rape. That marked the second time the Red Jacket Firearms founder was arrested that month. In early August, he was arrested on charges of child molestation and crimes against nature, but released on $150,000 bail. The victim told police at the time that "the alleged acts occurred almost daily, but [the victim] didn't report them because Hayden made threats," according to CBS affiliate WAFB.
The reality star's eldest daughter, Stephanie Hayden Ford, initially defended her father. However, in a September interview with Dr. Phil, she revealed her father had touched her inappropriately when she was 12 years old.

It is well past the time for all officers to be mounted with body cams that they can't turn off and store all information at a secure, offsite location; civilian review/oversight boards for all departments; and a morality clause in every employment contract. I would also like to see annual physiological testing/reviews and free therapy for all officers who desire it, but those are probably too much to ask for.
