Last Saturday while having lunch at my local Chilis restaurant I was subjected to a racist rant by the girl working behind the bar. She said that we needed to save America for real Americans and going on about how those other people acted while in the store. She that she would need to move back to Montana if more of those Types of people move here.
After returning home I called and asked to speak to the manager I was told that the manager was not in but she would return my call. She did not. On Monday I tried calling corporate office but they close at 2pm my time (Mountain Time) and they do not have phone message. I again call the local restaurant and this time the manager did return my call. Without asking me what was said or which employee was involved. She stated that because I did not make a complaint while in the store that my complaint was invalid and no discipline would be needed. She did give me the number of her district manager and I left a message and my return #. The call has not been returned.
I personally will not eat ate that or any other Chilis in the future. It might be time to use the muscle of DU to help spread the word.

(20,906 posts)I would wager that she is very much in the majority in that state when it comes to those views, at least in some areas. The smart ones just don't make it so public like that.

(16,926 posts)One was from Oklahoma, the other two from Texas.
My first exposure was at the age of 18. I'd been invited to dinner at the parents of a coworker. I can even remember the meal - chili without beans (I secretly felt sorry for the mother for her cooking abilities before learning that's the way it is in Texas). And something called "Snickerdoodle pie", if I recall. After dinner, my friend's father told a joke ending with an 'N' word in the punchline. I was so shocked that I didn't respond.
Another Texan coworker many years later commonly dropped the term in idle conversation, unconcerned with (or more likely enjoying) the reactions he received. He was a physically large dude, prone to angry outbursts, and a gunsmith. Great combo, there.
The last was another coworker from my latest job - a former college wrestler, extreme fighter for a short period of time, and assault and battery on his ex-wife guy. I got to hear about all of the lazy, shiftless welfare n***s in Oklahoma from him anytime politics came up.
Just posted for those who believe Idaho natives as a group largely perambulate by goose-stepping to and fro.

(29 posts)while he was the first person to actually ask me what was said by the employee ( I gave him the statements). He seemed peturbed about my insiting to explain the lack of reaction by the manager for refusing to return my call, and then explaining that my complaint wasn't valid since it was not done during my meal. He told me that it would be going to corperate offices and he would get back to me in a couple of days to let me know how if was resolved. I will post a follow-up at that time.
