President Barack Obama - The Right Man For This Moment In History

Just after the election I saw the President in a press conference and in a few interviews and from listening to him and observing him something was quite evident about his appearance- he seemed as if a giant weight had been lifted off his shoulders. He seemed solid and strong and he had a sense of peace about him that seemed new to this moment. It was clear to me that this now so called lame duck president was aware of something that I wasn't and that brought a sense of relief to me.

Many people who come to this site have also expressed that if only this president had experienced cooperation and support he could have accomplished so much more. I also share in these sentiments. But I think it's very important to note and to realize that the resistance President Obama has faced is exactly what needed and needs to take place. You can't treat an infection or an infestation unless you know that it's there and if you don't get down to the root or the cause it will continue to fester. This infection or infestation can only continue to survive in the shadows and the darkness where it is able to do it's damage. As soon as it is exposed to the light of day it wants to scramble back as hide in the shadows.

Another important understanding about this resistance that is now being exposed is that the resistance will want to rise up to the level of that which it is facing. Another way of expressing this is that the depth of goodness and intelligence and strength that exists in the person of Barack Obama has called forth a barbaric and primitive resistance that attempts to be as potent as the force that it is opposing. What this means is that the presidency of Barack Obama has exposed this massive amount and degree of vulgarity that we are seeing in this country. It is being brought out of the shadows and it is now being fully exposed to the light of day.

Many people who come to this site have expressed the similarity we see today to the time of the Civil War. That war manifested due to a rise in tension that necessitated some major event to take place to attempt to address that tension. The Civil War was fought by the Confederacy in large part to prevent exactly what has taken place today where we see a man of color living the White House in the position that can be seen as the most powerful person in the world.

I'll see in printed history that Barack Obama was one of the greatest, if not the greatest President yet. Anyone else faced with the shit this man has had to put with would have pulled his hair out by now but not our solid as a rock President Obama. He just smiles and keeps on egging the fools on. America is getting a good picture of where the problem lies and what they're seeing is that the republiCONs will do anything even dance with treason and sedition in their quest to stop this man. I've never seen anything in my life like what I'm seeing right now. It was ok up until we elected a black man then the racist, bigoted, homophobic and assholes came crawling out of the wood work. We still have a lot of work in front of us if we want this to be a country for everyone and not just the well to do and connected aholes.

Obama accomplished the equivalent of landing an airliner in the Hudson River. His Republican opponents would have killed this nation.

So very true and eloquently articulated by Nancy the Artist!

Republicans Reeling As President Obama Is Dominating Their Congressional Majority

snip//

Three months into the expanded Republican majorities on the Hill, White House aides see a landscape in which President Barack Obama is more in charge now than he was before the midterms. Rather than moving forward on their own priorities as Republican leaders promised after their midterm sweep, the House and Senate find themselves reacting to Obama.

So far, most legislation hasn’t moved at all, and the most prominent votes have been on bills they already know Obama won’t sign. Even the political flare-ups over Iran, White House aides say, are more evidence of a Congress — Republicans and Democrats alike — that is reacting to the president’s agenda.

“To the extent that Republicans on Capitol Hill are doing things, it is either putting out fires in their own camp or responding to incoming from President Obama,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest said

this is the second post of yours i have come across in the last few minutes trashing the president.
did ya take a wrong turn of somethin?

at least try to put some facts on the table. in threads about issues would be a good place to do that.
trashing this kind of thread is like putting your muddy feet on the coffee table in someone else's house.

may be a political site, but some of us still have manners. and use them.

The Republicans in Congress must have thought that by going all crazy last week that they would cause this President some concern.

Instead, all they seem to have accomplished was to give their own constituents a huge case of buyer's remorse!!

Buyers remorse!!!!!!! Yes!

Guess what!? I am down to my last hide! Countdown and I will be clear in ten days!!! It was the one where a jury member called me the worst bully on DU, then called me on my bitchiness. They called me a bitch Major. They stayed hidden in a jury where they mocked me and called me a bitch, anonymously and cowardly they called me out. Yup. Obviously it still hurts me three months after the fact.

So ugly that a member of DU would do that. I know who said it, not who some think. I know.

He remains confident and cool-headed about all of the whacko junk the GOP throws out there.

He knows they are like junkyard dogs chained to a pole -- they're loud and obnoxious, sure -- but they can't get off of that chain in order to run after him to bite him.
They're harmless, in that respect.

He doesn't taunt them, he just waves politely at them and says "hi" as he walks by them on his way to do some work at the White House.
While they turn on each other and bark for the rest of the day, until they are all barked out.

Here's to the next 10 days, hon.

I try not to let it bother me. Most times it doesn't. Sometimes, to down to let it pass.

Yet if the president can be called all those names and stand strong, well hell, so can I.

Thank you so very much Major. Ten days!

and with those who have always had his back. I'm grateful I got to live at this time, witnessing this President and this family. He has inspired me greatly to be more involved with people, more engaging and tolerant toward others, to laugh at myself.

There's a deep personal connection here that words cannot express. My sister feels the same way. When we talk on the phone and see each other in person, we always say we have his back. It's sincere.

I won't list all his Administration's accomplishments here. They are real. They are as strong as any of the top Presidents. He is currently redefining what a so-called 'lame duck' President can and will accomplish. I believe he wakes up every day and thinks and acts on how he can help Americans. Not just those who voted for him. Those who voted against him as well. That is the job of the President. He does his job as well as any I've seen in my lifetime. I credit also the people with whom he has surrounded himself.

I think in some ways his greatest accomplishment is that he has inspired others who are much younger. People who we don't even know. In the future they will greatly improve our country. President Obama has shown them that we can expand opportunities and meet the tremendous challenges that face every generation throughout history. We can stare down ignorance and hatred and replace it with education and love.
