Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to make a public statement around 5:45 p.m. (11:45 a.m. E.D.T.) It’s not clear what he might say. Campaign laws in Israel generally ban open campaigning on Election Day.

Updated: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was expected to make a public statement around 5:45 p.m. (11:45 a.m. E.D.T.) But Salim Joubran, a judge on the Supreme Court of Israel and the chairman of the Central Elections Committee, forbade any live broadcast of the statement on television or radio, according to a Twitter post by Ben Caspit, a leading Israeli political commentator.
