Are guns mostly a White person hobby?

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by DonViejo (a host of the General Discussion forum).

I have followed the discussion in the thread about a person selling paper targets
of an African American so I decide to google gun shows and it seems from every photo
I see it's mostly White people attending them.

I'm not saying there's something wrong with that but are guns mostly a White person hobby?

but I use to live in Highland Park in Los Angeles. Every year before school started in September there was gang initiation
We did not go outside of our apartment complex on nights when we could hear the gun fire.
Now not saying the ethic background of the gangs we had, they were not the typical gun show attendees.
I met quite a few of them since we lived in the same neighborhood and most times I interacted with them they were friendly but carried guns.

The real reason the Second Amendment was ratified, and why it says "State" instead of "Country" (the Framers knew the difference - see the 10th Amendment), was to preserve the slave patrol militias in the southern states,

http://truth-out.org/news/item/13890-the-second-amendment-was-ratified-to-preserve-slavery

I have said before and will again, most gun owners dont need their guns for any legitimate reason, and if anybody does need one for protection, it is a minority.

Of course, he knew that the Constitution was about Individual Rights, not some militia's rights. That militia clause? That was the fed's assertion that it cannot fulfill its Article 1 obligation to call for a militia without the "people's right to keep and bear arms..." In short, the fed's depended on the individual right, it did not condition it.

Gun range membership plus range fees and weapons put them beyond the reach of the poor who are strapped to manage to pay for enough food, shelter, utilities, and transportation.

I googled "Gun Range Images" and saw only a very few that weren't white. I am not sure that really means anything.

The Poverty Rate is higher among minorities, so that may explain why fewer join gun ranges.

If the racial component in gun ownership is important, one might look at what race(s) use guns illegally, at least by percentages.

What do you think? A look at hobbies, or a look at crime data?

Sure, there are AA's (and other minorities), that enjoy and participate in any of those I listed (and probably a bunch

Why? I'm guessing income and geographic location plays a big part.

It is odd for anyone of any ethnic background where I live not to have at least one rifle in the household (generally it means a felony conviction).

If you lived where I lived, you'd probably have one too. Also a lot of rural people, especially the less-affluent, hunt and fish for food. And then we have issues like rattlers on the doorsteps in the spring or summer. Firearms are more functional tools for us.
