Drug czar flunks history and economics

Gil Kerlikowske, the director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy: There are no good reasons to legalize marijuana.

You know, honestly, I wonder how this man can say this with a straight face, knowing current drug policy is among the MOST RACIST law in this land. It makes me want to vomit.

Or how he can say this knowing that economists think he's full of shit.

Or how he can say this knowing current laws have killed people who could benefit from marijuana as a secondary medicine for patients taking HIV drugs and undergoing chemotherapy.

Or how he can compare drugs with side effects like DEATH and physiological addiction when marijuana has NO LETHAL DOSE in its natural form and, if it is physically addicting, the consequences of withdrawal are less severe than coffee and last for a couple of days. His analogy is bullshit.

Or how he can say this knowing the history of alcohol prohibition.

Or how he can say this knowing that usage studies indicate legalization reduces use among teenagers.

(and if you want links to all this info, you can find them in the Drug Policy forum)

You can always find someone willing to tell lies for power and money.

9. Well, yeah, the most basic problem is that he isn't allowed to tell the truth

is listed in schedule I of section 202 of the Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C. 812); and
has not been approved for use for medical purposes by the Food and Drug Administration;

In other words, Americans waste A LOT of money paying salaries to staff a bureaucracy that is nothing more than a propaganda office for the Alcohol, Oil, and Pharma Industries.

You have to laugh to know that we fund an office of the govt. to make sure Americans keep bad laws on the books.

cause it would be a little ironic.

What's so aggravating is all the people who make money off of keeping bad laws on the books, then retire, then talk truth. I mean, I appreciate when someone finally does speak out, but people are too willing to allow a bad system to stand because too many people make money off of dysfunctional systems.

I must have forgotten that the term "czar" didn't exist before Jan. 20, 2009, if the Comrade Fox Commentators are to be believed, and it would be realpolitikally incorrect to question them.

The thought of lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ even if it means destroying the lives of your fellow human beings, makes a lot of people really, really STUPID.

Add EVIL to the mix and Curlycowski is explained.

(Some days, I wish there WAS a hell so he and his ilk could burn there....)
