It's usually one of those 2 excuses. I think I prefer the second one because it's usually accompanied by some sort of laughable elaboration that makes the person in question sound like some sort of important media watchdog. Because, you know....if you don't actually watch those shows then there'd be no place to find out what the other side is saying. You know, other than the thousands of places on the internet that it will be posted and all the clips that will be uploaded. But other than that, it's really necessary.
