is the way to go anyway, but Drs dont seem to want to prescribe it for some reason. When Ive asked for it they look at me like an idiot and give me Vicodin anyway...

Vicodin and Percocet contain acetaminophen, aka Tylenol, which is OK if you're taking the drugs in the correct dosages your doctor tells you to.

But because these pills are full of addictive opiates, too many people don't stick to the prescribed dosages, and when they take too much, the overdose in acetaminophen pickles people's livers.

Solution: Have the acetaminophen in a separate pill. And have a medically-based plan for dealing with addiction, not just cracking skulls and throwing people in jail.

Kidding aside, there are instances where the pain warrants vicodin. For example, certain bone fractures.

The solution is to put the opiates and the acetaminophen in seperate pills, so people don't pickle their livers.

It has been a while since I broke any bones, so I can't remember so well. Maybe it was codeine. There was a problem getting my prescription at first, so I was literally crying from the pain the next day after surgery. I was sitting there crying in pain, frustrated that the doctor and the pharmacy couldn't get it figured out.

Side note: I'm now in Sweden and the prescriptions go instantly to the pharmacies over the interwebs. It's a centralized system, and far less BS.

I use percoset very judiciously and I have only one of the warning signs- that is I plan certain activities around taking the medication- because I can't do them without taking a pain killer. Other than that I just live in constant pain. I begin to really despise people who abuse these drugs.

stating she wouldn't abuse her prescription. They wanted to take her off painkillers all together, but we fought them. People, and that includes doctors, who have never had chronic pain just don't get it.

Vicodin is my drug of choice: the last time I had some was about 8 years ago when my dentist gave me a prescription after a root canal. It works well for me, and from my somewhat limited experience I can't see why anyone would take it voluntarily.

I read a science fiction story where corporations take over all aspects of our government, and push heavily advertised near-useless products on everyone.

Anyone using anything not officially sold by the government is sent to gulags.
Including aspirin.
