(3,212 posts)There is NO evidence that "Jackie" was raped. And she is not cooperating with police. At all.
She lied. She may be a troubled young woman who was raped at some point in her life, but she was not raped in that frat house when she says she was. That's the evening she called her friends and claimed she was raped.

What has police said?

(3,212 posts)and will leave the case open in case anyone comes forward with information, but it is clear that they don't believe she was raped that night at that fraternity. It seems they even looked into at least one other fraternity where the rape could have happened, and they don't see any evidence of that, either.
She claimed to have called her mother that night - no phone records of that.
She said her friend picked out glass from her face - friend says she didn't do that. She did have an abrasion on her face, but no physical evidence even remotedly consistent with the gang rape and physical assault that Jackie described.
Also, a photo was produced that had been taken at the fraternity house that night (date stamped), and there was no party going on in the picture. (I think I heard that someone was studying in the picture.) Anyway, it was established some time ago that there was no party at the frat house that night, but the picture just added to the evidence, imo.) And, remember, Jackie called friends right after the supposed rape, so there is no uncertainty as to when she claimed the rape occurred.
The state of Virgninia is concurrently investigating how the university handled the accusation, so maybe more will come out in that report, which I think is due out very soon.
strawberries
(498 posts)an injustice to women who have been raped. I think she is a troubled woman also who needs counseling of some sort.
