The For Profit Repuke Society

I have major problems with this. Children's education should not be profit oriented. The disabled, children or adult, should not be profit oriented. The incarcerated should not be profit oriented. The sick and the elderly should not be profit oriented. While I am not religious, I feel all this is IMMORAL. Yet, the Repukes think everything in our society should be PROFIT oriented, even for the most vulnerable of our population.

I find this despicable. Profits should not be made with the most needy of our society. I guess this the basic issue which separates us from them.

Edited for clarity: "this bandwagon" = the push to privatize EVERYTHING

As a Christian myself, it absolutely infuriates me when the right-wingers don't give a damn about the less fortunate, all the while loudly proclaiming their love for Christ and his teachings.

For me, Christianity is about compassion, especially for the needy among us - the poor, the sick, the hungry, the elderly, etc.

And no...Christianity does not have a monopoly on compassion, etc.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]"For profit" enterprises are absolutely great for cars, TVs, toasters, and the like.

But healthcare, education, and I would also say utilities like water, sanitation, electricity, and basic communications, are essential to life in a civilized society and should be completely socialized.

That's why a hybrid social democracy is, I think, the best form of government.
