Harry Reid urging Catherine Cortez Masto to run for Senate in NV.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid announced Friday morning that he’s retiring, and he’s wasting no time trying to coronate his successor. The Washington Post is reporting that the outgoing senator—who would have been up for re-election in 2016—says he favors the state’s former attorney general, Catherine Cortez Masto, as his replacement.

The Nevada Senate race in 2016 could be pretty interesting. Reid was widely perceived as one of the most vulnerable Democratic incumbents, but his open seat could give Republicans an even better pickup opportunity (though that thesis is hotly debated, as Jeff Singer details at Daily Kos Elections).

If Cortez Masto runs, she could be quite competitive. After being term-limited out of the attorney general’s office, she became executive vice chancellor of the Nevada System of Higher Education, which oversees colleges and universities in the state. During her short time there, she’s drawn national attention for her position on campus carry legislation. USA Today reports that current Nevada policy gives college presidents veto power over whether or not someone can carry a weapon on campus. But the Nevada Legislature is considering legislation that would take that power away from them, allowing people over 21 to carry concealed weapons on college campuses. Cortez Masto is an adamant opponent of that change.

“The law works right now and from our perspective, it does not need to be changed,” she told USA Today. “The need for them to have this broad authority to carry a concealed weapons doesn’t exist. This is a solution in search for a problem that doesn’t exist.”

then Cortez Masto would have a very slim chance of winning.
Even Clark County, where Democrats hold a big majority, Gov. Sandoval is popular, and the rest of the state is pretty much red.

Sandoval won with over 70% of the vote compared to around 23% for the Democrat. Widely popular sounds like an understatement.

Legislature, with the the major shift of the States Tax Burden moving from the Casino and Mining companies to the Rank and File Worker Bees. Masto with a good campaign will easily wipe the floor with Sandoval. This lady is the real deal and will be a even better Senator than Reid. BTW,Masto has the Hispanic community behind her and that is fifty per cent of the Clark County population. It will be hers to loose.

Gov. Sandoval is very popular, even in Clark County, and the rest of the state is pretty much red, even in Nevada's second most populous county, Washoe, which encompasses Reno.
Hate to break it to you, but in a head to head match, Masto would lose badly.

And Brian Sandoval will be embroiled in some sort of a scandal shortly as it is expected for every Republican who overreaches.

And he is one of them.

and they admit that in a head to head match, Gov. Sandoval would win handily, he's very popular with the residents of Clark County, and remember, Las Vegas isn't the only city in CC, the rural areas of CC are very red, as is the rest of the state.

What evidence do you have that Gov. Sandoval will shortly be embroiled in a scandal?
Wishful thinking?
So far, he's brought a major industry to the state, Tesla car battery factory, creating thousands of jobs in Washoe County, along with other measures he's taken for NV.
He won re-election very easily and would do the same for Reid's Senate seat.

Republicans needs to be placed aside.

I don't care if he's Jesus Christ on a stick, he's still a Republican, and I view every single Republican as our enemy as they are not on our side.

Remember that.

cost the Rethugs their seats in 2016. At this moment the Rethugs are sweeping all state accounts in order to fulfill the mandated reserve fund and guess what, they are coming up about 70 mil short. As to Masto and Sandoval head to head, well don't know were your rellies find those numbers except from the two wingnut TV stations. With the Hispanic voters behind Masto,Sandoval is toast. And just a little side bar,the Hispanic vote stayed home in 2014 because they were not sure if the Dems would carry water for them. Also,Bernie Sanders will be at the SEIU complex on Wednesday and from what we heard a few hours ago, sounds like a several hundred will be in the hall. No one of any stature bothered to engaged this powerful group in 2014. Will be there as well. Most of the people in Nevada Vegas(2million plus)as far as the other smaller Red towns in Clark County, there are more cats and dogs than people. It's all about the peoples next Real Estate Tax bills baby and it ain't going to be pretty for the Rethugs.

My relates are very active in NV politics and they have the pulse of NV politics, even they agree that if Gov. Sandoval decides to run, barring any negative issues, he will win.
