The Justice Department on Friday brought federal civil rights charges against a University of Mississippi student who allegedly hung a noose on a statue of James Meredith, Ole Miss' first black student.

I lived in a small city where some residents wanted to disband the PD. Petitions were signed and it was put on the ballot for the residents of the city to vote on. If it had been successful, policing services would have been contracted out to the county.

The city of Pontiac Michigan had both their police and fire services dissolved by an appointed city manager. Policing services went to the county sheriff dept -and fire services were contracted out to the neighboring town

9. There's a lot of hypocrisy regarding young folks and students in particular.

So many of our enforcements seems to be against people who can't afford to fight back, don't know how, or are simply "little people" done for the sake of harassment. Rules that little people are expected to follow, like honor codes, but the folks at the top lie (or sidestep like Pence just did) routinely.

That said, I'm glad something is happening to discourage racism where it occurs.
