6. I was going on 14 when that happened.

I was already against the war - that I got from RFK when I was a mere lad - but Kent State scared the living hell out of me. My dad told me he'd help me get to Canada if the war was still going on when I hit draft age and that calmed me down.

9. My brother-in-law's uncle was a roommate of one of the fatalities;

William Schroeder- He was in the ROTC and was just walking to class. The roommate (b-i-l's uncle, with whom I've shared a couple of big Thanksgiving dinners), said he was present soon after Schroeder was shot, and he could hear the gurgling in Schroeder's lungs.
