George Clooney's Barack Obama Fundraiser Drums Up Record-Breaking $12 Million

We all knew George Clooney could rake in dem big box-office bucks.

Apparently, he's not too shabby at pulling in political cash, either.

The superstar actor-cum-activist-cum-overall awesome guy will reportedly rustle up $12 million at his May 10 fundraising dinner for President Barack Obama in Los Angeles, scoring a record as the biggest U.S. presidential campaign fundraiser in history, per The Hollywood Reporter.

<<<<<snip>>>>>

About 150 guests are expected to attend the sold-out shindig, which is being held at Clooney's Studio City home and is costing folks a cool $40,000 a pop. (Hey, that rare house tour alone should justify the steep price tag, yes?)

Because we all know that only big bucks that go to the GOP are fine. The rest, especially if it comes from Hollywood, is BAAAAAD.

Reagan, Sonny Bono, Clint Eastwood, Arnold, Fred Thompson, etc.

Remember when Obama's first opponent for senate in 2004 dropped out of the race? The Republics wanted to get Mike Ditka to run for Senate. Same thing with California - Republics have wanted Kelsey Grammar to run there.

Great political thriller. It made me think how it would be nice to see him run.

He didn't appeal to me in the beginning, but I really liked him in "Michael Clayton" -- I could watch that over & over, just watching him.

I love his presence & I'm extremely proud that he's a Democrat.

The Republics would be better off ignoring this tidbit (lest they only give it further coverage and wider exposure), but you know they can't help themselves.

Go ahead Kkkarl, try to vilify George Clooney. It's a sure bet it'll boost your numbers with women 14-95.

How I wish George Clooney would stop dating young, beautiful, svelte blondes and turn his attention to middle-aged petite women who could lose a few pounds
I love this man - not just because he is gorgeous, but also because of who he is and how he uses his wealth and status for bettering those in need.
