JOHN KERRY APPRECIATION THREADJohn Kerry has worked so hard with so much opposition and so little appreciation, shouldn't we have an appreciation thread in his honor? The first hurdle crossed today with an agreement among SIX countries... Whether it's accepted in the long run doesn't matter. This guy and his boss have done an amazing job. We love you, John....Blessed are the peacemakers sounds nice, whether it's true or not...

Why do all the truly intelligent people join the Democratic party? The gop and TP's get the looney ones. Not that I am complaining, I am not, just an observation. Thank you, John Kerry, and to President Obama for putting his trust in him.

I doubt I could have endured his schedule these last to years when I was in my 20s - much less to do it always cheerful, well spoken and elegant. He is truly an exceptional person as well as diplomat.
I hope he has a great Easter holiday with his wonderful family. |

27. Won't happen - we need him to continue his excellent work as Secretary of State
He can't do both at the same time.
It's an easy choice for him. Continue doing stuff that makes the world more peaceful AND lead the US Paris climate change delegation in 2016 OR take on a very difficult, likely impossible political battle to get the nomination and then the Presidency. Climate change has been something he and Teresa have worked on for decades. The first option is his without any fund raising (which is not fun for anyone) and without enduring the attacks that will come both in the primary and the general elections -- not just against him, but Teresa, his daughters, and his allies, including the guys on his boats, who he loves and who he saw attacked and hurt in 2004 when they defended him. (He can ignore the attacks as Secretary, that he would need to address as a candidate.) In the season of the Persian New Year, Easter and Passover -- all celebrating spring - a fresh new season -- it is appropriate that we lift the spirits of the whole world by making the world more peaceful. |

It is most wonderful news to citizens who would be most directly impacted. And indeed the world.
What kind of people love money and power to the extent they will bring death and destruction across the Middle East to obtain ever more of it. It's frightening to contemplate, it demonstrates what we're up against. |

17. Your hard work and loyal service ARE appreciated!!!
It's a shame we are a "nation divided", that has a whole political party fighting against any progress; but that's what we have today.
Your hard work, persistence and sacrifice are recognized and deeply appreciated. Your country is proud of you! There is nothing you could have done to win the respect and support of the opposition in this country of ours. Nothing! You were wise to pay them little attention; but they will hopefully be exposed by others for their seditious, unAmerican behavior. You have remained above the fray. Thank you, from a Vietnam Vet brother. |

24. There is no American statesman in my lifetime who I admire more
I am proud to have been a member of the JK group since 2005. Though all the years, I have followed his actions closely. In all that time, my admiration has constantly grown. As a person, he is impossibly patient and incredibly good natured. The attacks on him from the right have been constant and pretty sickening ... but he seems to just stay focused working hard on many issues at the same time.
He would have made an awesome President, but it made be that he will have accomplished more as Secretary of State. Just off the top of my head: - He was key on getting the chemical weapons out of Syria - He was the key to resolving the Afghan election and proposing the unified government they have - He was key on Obama's pact with China on climate change (and the smaller Indian one) - He also was important in the change on Cuba - and the involvement of the Pope. Add Iran, and it has been a very busy slightly more than 2 years as Secretary of State. Only time will tell, but he might be the most important Secretary of State since George Marshall. |

Kerry's been the most pro-active Sec of State in modern history.
Of course, no one has ever been more familiar with the details concerning that entire region than Kerry. IranContra and BCCI gave him an entire blueprint of how US was operating in the region and all the characters involved publicly…. and secretly. |

It takes me back to the multiple endless negotiations between the U.S. and USSR, which were so vital to the survival of the human race.
Our Senate and House have always had a share of idiots and short sighted ideologues, but never in history have so many stood in opposition to the common good as the modern GOP has. history will judge them harshly. |

I'm a moderate who has long opposed the two parties and never liked John Kerry. However my opinion has been greatly swayed by his tireless efforts to have peace. PEACE. However it is not over yet. A final deal still needs to be reached. I applaud Mr. Kerry and wish him more luck in the upcoming months.
I can taste the tears of the conservatives and Bibi. They will sqwak louder than ever but it is only because they know that President Obama and John Kerry are close to reaching the greatest foreign policy accomplishment in many years. |

I am a liberal Democrat, who has voted since 1972, of all the people I voted for there was no one who impressed me as a person more than John Kerry.

123. I had the honor of meeting Teresa and John Kerry once.
it was during their 2007 book tour for This Moment On Earth. As the line snaked around Dutton's Books in Brentwood (since closed, I'm sorry to say), the guy behind started me going off about Kerry's membership in Skull-and-Bones and how, consequently, he "can't be trusted."
I reminded him that Kerry has a long track record of standing up (as much as he can anyway) to neocon types and other "parallel state" goons such as the Iran-Cocaine-Contra crowd - whose criminal enterprise Kerry did so much to expose, probably more than any single Senator. I also reminded him that if anything, being a Bonesman probably gives him more influence than a million protesters could ever have - especially in today's exceedingly indifferent and corrupt halls of power. And above all, that public officials should be judged by their deeds. Matthew 7:16 reminds us that "by their fruits ye shall know them." Thanks for being a peach, Secretary Kerry. |

165. I love John Kerry
when the chips were down he chose to do what at the time he thought was the right thing to do, the hell with the toll it might have had on his life or limb. JK is a good man and I'm proud that he is where he is watching out for us trying to make the world a better place for all peoples.
