Mitt the fucking liar sez: I meet secretly with regular families to learn about

how people struggle economically.

To understand economic struggles, Romney says he meets with regular families _ off the record

By Associated Press, Updated: Friday, May 4, 3:34 PM

PITTSBURGH — Mitt Romney says he learns about what it’s like to struggle in a difficult economy by sitting down and chatting with regular people. But the Republican presidential candidate doesn’t want anybody to see it — and his campaign won’t say who he meets with or when the meetings occur.

In interviews and on the campaign trail, Romney regularly says he learns about the struggling economy by talking to people affected by it.

He said earlier this week that he meets with families “almost every day.” On Friday, he said the talks are “off the record” and that he agrees to keep private the names of those he meets with.

Aides did not respond to a request for more information about the meetings and the participants.

Unless of course it's all bullshit. That's the only reason this would need to be "secret", because it never happened!

He is a Mormon. Could easily be a component of that.

Not likely a part of his regular worship, temples and church meetinghouses are very status-oriented, you get assigned seating, and a certain number of seats based on contribution, but the church does get people together to talk regularly.

So it is possible poor Mormons have access to him through the church. However, 'poor' by his definition (and by Mormon social strata) is likely not what you and I would consider poor.

And that's about the extent of all the nice things I have to say about it right there.

I just looked, I see no media coverage of him at temple. It's not like a church, you don't just walk in and sit wherever. I am giving the benefit of the doubt only, because the church is quite secretive on these things. It is technically possible to accomplish it.

This could also be a calculated setup for the media, to gain mittens some sympathetic press. If he's attacked for saying this, and then some families 'come forward on their own' with stories of meeting him, could gain him some sympathy for 'unfair media attacks'.

I'd be cautious with this one.

. . . even if he IS telling the truth, what exactly is RMoney going to surmise from these meetings but "It's Obama's Fault"?

There's no atomic chance on Earth that he's going to be objective about, or come to any realistic conclusion on why they're struggling. Never mind that the real reasons have much to do with 31 years of a flat real-dollar wage trying to keep up with a never-decreasing cost of living and speculation-driven boom/bubble/spectacular crash economic shocks taking the place of boring profit/person/socially balanced capitalism. He doesn't see that because he's just not wired to. He's only wired to point fingers like an MBA would, even when there's no obvious target.

We saw the horrendous results of an MBA President running America like a top-heavy business.

Even if he IS meeting with regular families in secret --which he isn't--like any member of the GOP he would never change his opinion or policies as a result of what he hears. It would be like listening to Charlie Brown's teacher: wa wa wa wa wa.

I think what you suggested about MBAs is very interesting and I'd never thought before about how they're trained to maximize profit, not to improve life for the people who do the work, but I think that is a really key point.

Mitt if you really want to live like us - try living on $12.00/hr with creditors and debt checkers breathing down your neck. Then we'll talk - until then fuck off and go build another car elevator in your sixteenth mansion.

Turns out that plan, such as it was, was to end the war in Vietnam by expanding it to Cambodia and Laos without congressional approval. Who'd a thunk?

He's a rich asshole like any other rich asshole.

He's been told he's smarter than us. And he believes that.

He's been told he's better than us. And he believes that.

And THAT's what's insulting. And THAT's what he doesn't get.

He'll never get it.

They never do.

He gets the vapors if anyone touches him, or forces him to make small talk. It'd be like watching Niles Crane at a tailgating party in Alabama.

Romney cannot relate to average folks.. we've seen the videos. We've seen the painful "who let the dogs out?' video, and later when he tries to relate to a young woman who is a princess in the parade, telling her she has "beautiful gloves." wtf? Then we have him insulting the local bakery who donated cookies for his photo op (talking to REAL people,) by saying that they looked suspect, and were probably bought at 7-11.

Sorry.. that dude probably doesn't even talk to his numerous domestic staff around the Country.

It's the chauffeur! He sits, he tells him where to drive, listens to the "yes Sir" and there ya go, talks to regular people in private. Since he doesn't know the drivers name, he can't tell who he spoke to.

Stay-at-home mom, working dad, 2.5 children, Spot, a station wagon and a white picket fence?
Methinks Mittens got his idea of a "regular" family from watching Ozzie and Harriet (on the nights Davy Crockett wasn't on).
