Obama Strikes Historic Deal With Iran; GOP Loses Collective Sh*t

Obama Strikes Historic Deal With Iran; GOP Loses Collective Sh*t
Jesse Berney | 59 mins ago | Public Enemies

Today President Obama announced the framework of an historic deal with Iran that would prevent the fundamentalist Islamic regime from acquiring nuclear weapons. As Obama said in a statement:

This framework would cut off every pathway that Iran could take to develop a nuclear weapon. Iran will face strict limitations on its program, and Iran has also agreed to the most robust and intrusive inspections and transparency regime ever negotiated for any nuclear program in history. So this deal is not based on trust, it’s based on unprecedented verification.

Republicans, faced with the possibility of a foreign policy victory for the president that could result in a safer, more peaceful world, reacted with their usual measured response. From senators…

Americans and our allies are right to be wary of a nuclear deal w/ Iran that is riddled with concessions by the Obama Administration.

people have to have a certain measure of peace,
and be at peace with their own conscience, in order
to even SEE how to get there -- to Justice.

We project our own inner chaos onto every situation,
and everybody else does too. Nobody sees clearly,
AND nobody takes responsibility for generating their
own unhappiness.

It HAS to start there -- with each person, one at a time.
Get clear first, be in peace - then act. The peace will
not be a byproduct of actions. It is inside all of us,
already. It is such a power, such a strength, it needs to
be discovered, and used.

He also said that the first deployment of US troops overseas in World War II were some Marines parachuted into the Battle of Stalingrad (the first shots at Stalingrad were fired one week after the landing at Guadalcanal), that Abraham Lincoln was a Marxist, that Winston Churchill had been in the Labour Party, and similar nonsense. Thu Apr 2, 2015, 07:43 PM

I still think it's a long shot that an actual deal is reached by the July 1st deadline. Iran's lead negotiator said today after Obama's announcement that they will get to keep all their Uranium, produce more to sell on the international market, keep all their facilities, keep producing, keep their centrifuges, keep their reactors, and all sanctions will be lifted immediately. Sounds like this framework is still rather rickety.

I predict even if an agreement is reached by July 1st, it unravels within months or a year when Iran won;t allow full access to inspectors. We've seen this play out before with other countries. They're always hiding something.

Thu Apr 2, 2015, 08:06 PM
Apr 2015

An outline agreement on the future shape of Iran's nuclear programme has been reached after marathon talks with six major powers in Switzerland. Under the deal, Iran will reduce its uranium enrichment capacity in exchange for phased sanctions relief.

US President Barack Obama said a "historic understanding" had been reached with Iran. The world powers and Iran now aim to draft a comprehensive nuclear accord by 30 June. The framework agreement was announced by the European Union and Iran after eight days of negotiations in Lausanne. The talks between the so-called P5+1 - the US, UK, France, China and Russia plus Germany - and Iran at Lausanne's Beau-Rivage Palace hotel continued beyond the original self-imposed deadline of 31 March.

Actually he didn't, that's a lie. But you're a Republican so it's not surprising that you would lie.

"If only the secular Left put as much trust & faith in the people of Indiana as they do in the rulers in Iran. "

We are forcing intrusive inspections regimes in Iran, are you suggesting we need to do that to trust the politicians of Indiana? Why is going through life as a stupid vacuous hole a value for you Ingram?

Why is it that every time Rick Perry opens his mouth I smell sewage?

To sell them weapons in exchange for our hostages. Now, that would really make the Republicans' heads explode.

I mean I know the term is "full of shit" but I figured that after twenty-three years, there would be a physical limit somewhere...

105. Obama should defy Congress, if necessary

Even if cowardly Democrats override a veto, Obama should proceed with the historic Iran deal.

The powers of the Presidency should not be abridged by a Congress whose only alternative would be War.

After June 30, UN sanctions should be relaxed regardless of Congress' meddling. They have no say in the matter.

Obama has actions permitted to temporarily waive sanctions as well.

The only way this is derailed, IMO, is if Iran gets the impression we aren't serious about sanctions relief.

US sanctions relief can come later, after Iran proves itself.

Even if the Supreme Court ruled it an impeachable offense to ignore a Congressional mandate, I say let them try to get it done in under two years.

Nixon didn't beg Congress to allow an opening to China, after all.

As John Lennon sang, "Give Peace a Chance".
