Romney gets big-time "dissed"

Romney gets big-time "dissed"

by teacherken

by Brian Fischer of American Family Association, the person perhaps most responsible for forcing Romney's hand on Richard Grenell, the openly-gay foreign policy spokesman who was frozen out because of fear of social conservatives, who therefore resigned.

You can take a look at this post at Right Wing Watch, which has the video, and from which I will quote the transcript they offer:

Fischer: Let me ask you this question, people have raised this question, if Mitt Romney can be pushed around, intimidated, coerced, coopted by a conservative radio talk show host in Middle America, then how is he going to stand up to the Chinese? How is he going to stand up to Putin? How is he going to stand up to North Korea if he can be pushed around by a yokel like me? I don’t think Romney is realizing the doubts that this begins to raise about his leadership. I don’t think for one minute that Mitt Romney did not want this guy gone; he wanted this guy gone because there was not one word of defense, not a peep, from the Romney camp to defend him. They just went absolutely stone cold silent, they put a bag over Grenell’s head, they even asked him to organize this phone conference and they didn’t even let him speak at the conference that he organized.

If Mitt Romney can be pushed around. . .How is he going to stand up . . .

Remember, this is a SOCIAL CONSERVATIVE saying this about Mitt.

Perhaps we should help make this go viral?

as evidence that Romney won't stand up to foreign baddies?

He does realize that at this point that's essentially an endorsement of Obama, right?

14. Believe it or not, lots of evangelicals will be voting for Obama or staying home.

As the campaign goes on, loudmouth ministers will start more often to wink wink encourage their flock to support Obama by staying home. Romney give the religious right nothing, absolutely nothing and will not give them anything. That fact will become more obvious to the religious right as November nears.

8. Romney will say & do whatever the 'shadow' gov't tells him. Of course, he can't admit that,

can he?

Another question that can be asked is, does it matter what Romney says now? He's proven that his words can't be trusted.

No one will ever know what he'll do from one moment to the next - except for that 'shadow' gov't that loves war & hates American citizens.

Wasn't it Grover Norquist who said all they needed was a president to sign the newly passed laws?

10. Bryan Fischer is even worse than Romney, he is literally a hate group leader

The American Family Association has been labeled a hate group by the SPLC, they are one of the most homophobic organizations in America. To Romney's credit Fischer is wrong that Romney was silent about Grenell's resignation, the Romney campaign did put out a statement that they wish he would not have resigned because he was in their words "supremely qualified" for the job. I give credit to the Romney campaign for making it clear that they did not want him to resign, but that is as far as my credit goes because they should have also refused to accept the resignation and condemned the homophobes like Fischer who were demanding it.

I think it is entertaining to see the right-wing in fighting as well, but if we are going to be talking about Fischer it should always be in the context of how the guy is an extreme bigot. The words that were quoted from him in the OP may well be the only words he ever said that were even remotely true.

13. Romney doesn't have the insides to show courage at critical times.

Romney criticized Obama on bin laden's death anniversary, but Obama made a call that Romney simply could not have made to send in the Seals instead of firing missles. Obama made the decision to save the auto industry when everyone else was criticizing that decision, with Romney taking a prominent position as a critic. Now that the auto bailout money is paid back and american auto companies are historically successful, Romney wants to take credit for the bailout. Romney is a core-less jackass, the Obama campaign team need to be more civil in making that point, but they surely must drive that point home into the minds of undecided voters.

16. There was a good segment on "Hardball" about this last night...

I talked about it here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=643026

The third segment was really, really good. It was about Richard Grenell's resignation from the Romney campaign & about what it says about Romney himself. Two presidents of republican organizations, the Log Cabin Republicans, who defended Romney's (in)action on the resignation, & the Human Rights Campaign, were the guests.

The president of the Human Rights Campaign questioned what Romney stands for, due to Romney's silence following Grenell's resignation, which in their view, was due to the American Family council (or organization) putting the pressure on him. If he can bow to them, what does that say about what he'll do for them in regard to gay marriage, putting pro-LGBT justices on the supreme court, etc.

and I know a few, can stand him. He has problems in every area where there are Baptists. He's going to continue to have problems courting those folks if he alienates conservatives. I don't even know why he's running unless he has a driving desire to waste his own money. He's about as appealing as a can of Vienna Sausages and that's all you've had to eat for a hundred days is Vienna Sausages. Day after day.
