What is your favorite thing about politics? I like speculating

Last edited Wed Apr 15, 2015, 02:15 AM - Edit history (1)

about what is going on and sometimes being ahead of the news cycle and correct in my assumptions at the same time. Even the columnist Paul Krugman isn't right all the time when he predicts things (though he is pretty darn close). You can't be when you are talking about the future and guessing at what is going on behind the scenes. But I very much enjoy Obama as president because he is accomplishing a lot and undoing what the GOP has done to America. At changing the country and the world in fundamental ways. What I don't enjoy is news from what the right is up to. I sometimes speculate on their reasons for doing things and I don't enjoy that. At all. All in all being in a group like the DU and working together for a better world is the best thing.

Especially, with this President ... watching him out-think the republicans, using their inclinations to box them into forced choices, is a thing of beauty.

I'd happily ignore politics if it weren't for the fact that politicians appear to be determined to totally fuck up our world and everybody in it. So I want to be prepared to do what I can to mitigate the damage.

affairs and the F'ed up politicians. It's like walking in the worst part of town and not being cautious. There are some very dangerous politicians walking/sleeking around.

For example, I love reading political histories. A large section of my library is biographies and autobiographies/ books by US Presidents, primarily from JFK to recent times.

I love grass roots activism: going door-to-door campaigning, as well as participating in campaign meetings.

Those would be my two favorite things.

I wish I could just vote, donate some time and money and be done with it. Unfortunately, Republicans are worse than the worst cockroach infestation.
